sounds like a cruel joke being played with the Ummah.

how can the missing be found as "bodies"? unless the "bodies" were hurriedly shipped off to be hidden inside morgues, and are now being slowly "found" after governments started publishing the lists of missing?

hajj stampede toll stands at 2,257 with 646 still missing. Mali raises its toll to 282. The missing are being found as bodies. Saudi investigation hasn't concluded anything.

Mali has set up a facebook page to locate 249 still missing. Its official death toll is 119. Most of the 1400 missing are Africans. Honestly, the transparency in the case of Africans has been extremely bad on the part of the Saudi govt. There are a lot of questions here on the matter of missing African pilgrims. More than 700 of the current dead were from Africa. if you look at the pictures of the crush, there are so many Africans imartyred. i sincerely believe the saudi govt is playing games with the number of African casualties.

a valid question now, are bodies being kept in refrigerated morgues ? Saudi govt is manipulating the number of dead from Bangladesh even after 17 days ! Turkey manipulated the number of dead from the great Iznik Earthquake down to 17000 from the real figure of 300,000 [ commonly known among Turks ].

Human life is very cheap in the Middle East.

india raises death toll to 114. iIts about time. All 59 Muslim countries should take the stand, if not now, then in the coming years.

The aal saud liar scum of a family have lost their illegal title "custodian of the two holy mosques". This title is a lie, self-made, and all Muslim countries ought to give aal saud an ultimatum. Hand over Makkah or Madeenah or suffer the consquences of losing your most important future business. You wont have vacations blocking entire beaches in Southern France no more !The French public hate you too.

I know that it is dream of many to die and be buried in sacred precincts of haramayn. But I have heard horror stories about the burial and post-burial practices. A family friend of ours performed his hajj around 2-22 years back. While in Madina sharif, he chanced upon the happenings in jannat ul-baqi. The workers (presumably all poor bangladeshis) were busy digging older graves and exhuming the dead bodies and dumping them into trucks. He also saw several bodies in state of freshness (as if they had just been buried, presumably of those saliheen who remain preserved in their graves) and workers were dragging them out from the graves with great difficulty. The workers told him that to create space of newer burials, all buried bodies were exhumed after a lapse of 2-5 years and re-buried at another site. It was a horrific sight for him to behold and recount. Same apparently also happens in Jannat ul-Mu'alla. This is a first-hand account of this family friend and not just a vague rumour.

I am not sure if this practice is still prevalent (but wouldn't be surprised if salafis resorted to this, given what they think of dead). May be those who know that these things happen, wouldn't want burial in haramayn.

the scholar leading the Duá, is Allama Syed Mazhar Saeed Kaazmi sahab (son of Ghazali e Zamaan, Ahmed Saeed Kaazmi alayhe rehmah).

they are a very influential, and religion serving family of Sunni scholars (and have a huge number of mureeds too).

why didn't they bury them in makkah? just asking - is it because of saudi stipulation or the request of families of those hajis?

Syed Makhdoom Yusuf Raza Gilani, former prime minister of Pakistan at the funeral of his nephew in Multan Shareef, who was martyred in the Hajj Crush. Iran says there are a further 67 iranians missing. Gilani comes from a family of staunch Sunni Sayyids in Southern Punjab.

i thought khojas are the same as ismailis ie agha khanis... these guys don't even consider Namaz and Hajj as farz. (same as the alevis of Turkey & Syria)

or are the bohris and khojas one and the same? while we're at it, are the nusayris, ismailis and alevis the same thing?

afaik, bohris do pray like the twelvers. they join Zuhr & Asr and Maghreb and Esha always.

i never dug much into their different localized and official names and sects past the 12'ers.

afaik, the zaydis of Yemen are the least mubtadi3/heretic of the shias belief-wise, and from them on it's all downhill starting with the 12'ers, who themselves espouse many beliefs of kufr, and these others further worse than the 12'ers.

i am surprised that the Saudis allowed in 20,000 British Muslims; i do not believe that the Muslim population of the UK is 20 million.

The only conclusion that i can make is that these 20,000 would bring in as much money as the 70,000 iranians [ or may be more ]. So the Saudis did their math nicely with pilgrims coming from ultra rich countries in the West. Hajj is a business. It is money. Brother SunniStudent is right.

Another plane with 98 iranian bodies has arrived, raising the iranian confirmed death toll to 316 for the crush. A number of kurdish sites have said dozens of Sunni iranians were killed from iranian kurdistan

This clearly brings the tally to 1500+ with 1550 still missing

excluding half of iran's death toll, Hajj crush tally now stands at 1425; with just 2 more, this will be the worst disaster to hit the pilgrimage officially. There are still 1400 missing, not including the 225 iranians i excluded. India has raised tally to 101, and Mali to 112, Indonesia to 120, Cameroon to 53, Sudan to 30, Algeria to 26, and Morocco to 27. Turkey also raised it to 7, while Pakistan is 93, and Bangladesh at 63. i expect a big rise soon. Egypt is at 148.

Brother SunniStudent is right. regarding Bohri Ismaili Musta'ili Shiites, Saudi Arabia allows them special treatment because of the lobbying of the co-religionists of the Bohra Ismailis within Saudi Arabia. i am talking about the Sulaymani Ismailis [ native Saudi Ismailis from Najran and their top religious family the Makramis, who have diplomatic relationships with the Bohras of india and in northern yemen ]. The Bohris have business relationships throughout the Khaleej for the past century including yemen and jeddah. The saudis know them very well.

The twelvers from Eastern Province are not given special treatment as much, while iranian shiites are given some appealing opportunties as well. The twelvers living in Madeena and Wadi Fatima of Makkah are usually ignored.
