this "research" is simply hilarious. in their desperation they are getting more and more fanciful with each passing year. I think in a few years hence we can expect an astrophysical mythology rivaling Tolkien's Middle Earth Saga - and it might be, to quote the article, "the most exciting explanation". I like good stories so who am I to complain? But for this group of self-appointed thinkers-for-humanity who allegedly do not brook anything less than experimentally-verifiable and independently reproducible real-world facts, it would be an embarrassing apology for a credible model of the cosmos. The researchers looking for "exciting" solutions can keep dreaming up universes and we will keep clubbing them in a single "grand pluriverse". Hello, sir, it's turtle's all the way down. Beat that if you can. Even if there be multiple self-contained closed-systems which might qualify for "individual universes" I do not think that humans will ever even approach a solution to the mystery of the cosmos. Even if their flights of fancy offer them "exciting" odysseys into the world of possibilities, they will keep groping in the dark until the scrolls of heavens are rolled up and truth becomes self-evidently manifest to even the most stubborn skeptic. Salam is this available anywhere? salam would it be possible to explain the narration in context of out aqeeda?
two issues mixed up. 1. first is the possibility of "multiverse". in itself, it is a possibility and does not contradict religion. 2.the other is the implication according to athar of ibn abbas; which itself has two more issues: a. the validity of the athar itself in terms of isnad etc. b. whether the athar should be taken literally, or whether it is explained in a way that it does not conflict with established aqidah. ==== regardless, one can confidently and emphatically say that this athar cannot contradict other SaHiH narrations and the qur'an itself which explicitly says that RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam is rahmat for EVERY aalam - universes or multiverse or pluniverse (this is my take) there is. and adduced by other SaHiH narrations and ijma'a, RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam is the Prophet sent for all the worlds there are; ye jahaN ke hashdah hazaar hai, jise dekho uska hazaar hai this world, which is 18 thousand, whoever you see, sings his praises [hazaar in the first instance is thousand; hazaar in the second instance means 'a nightingale'; thus 'sing his praises'] Allah ta'ala knows best.
The apparent meaning that: there is a messenger like each of the messengers would necessitate that there is also a messenger like our Master Muhamnad SallAllāhu Alayhi wa Sallam which is rationally impossible. That is the part i was alluding to.
Salam e masnun but brother are u sure it in relation to this? Does not Imam Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, (rahmat Allahi ta'la alayh), mention that there could be multiverses, in his tafsir al-Kabir of of Sura al-Fatiha, al-Hamdulillahi Rabbil 'alameen. ?
There is ikhtilāf regarding the hadīth but regardless, the apparent meaning cannot be taken as it contradicts known principles and would be considered disregarding a fundamental part of the religion.
This athr was used by ahsan nanotwi to give a justification for imkān e Nażīr. He was refuted by Sunni scholars, but qasim nanotwi wrote tahdhīr al-Nās to support ahsan and his imkān e Nażīr theory. I think we all know what happened after that.
