Shaykh Saeed talking about the so-called 'religious pluralism movement' at the event on the 21st of March (he also has a speech on the 23rd): From 1:18:30 onward; "there are many negative consequences to post-modern philosophy and I'll give you one example, and that is what is referred to as religious pluralism..." Regarding 'Kalām al-Aqalliyyat', I suspect there may be people who wish to take the approach of issuing fatwa outside the four schools and calling it 'uṣūl al fiqh' and then doing the same for kalām and calling it 'uṣūl al dīn'. In a way, we already it see it in the perennialist movement that misconstrues the positions of attributed to past scholars in an attempt to justify their heresy.

I missed shaykh sa'eed, is he in this video or somewhere else? we know how they play tricks - some people are invited just to buy people's trust. what stops them from telling shaykh foudah that we are "reviving kalam" so please attend? these tricks are old and well-tested. do not forget these folks are well connected and funded by all sorts of vested interests, they might bewail their electricity bills but they hardly fool us. I don't know what you mean brother but trust them to use any level of verbal jugglery to sell their yankee-wares. it was just a heads up to you in case you didn't know. I wouldn't say every invitee to this gathering has malevolent intent (e.g. Shaykh Saeed Foudah), however do you think the involvement of those sympathetic to the Fiqh al-Aqalliyyat movement indicates towards the introduction of a 'Kalām al-Aqalliyyat'?
besides, it's a mixed gender gathering and no proper purdah on stage or off and I couldn't spot a single panelist with a proper shara'i beard (and I don't mean those malays who naturally lack facial hair). As Salāmu ʿAlaykum, Was just going through some videos and a brother at this roundtable made an interesting points (from about 8 seconds in until about 8:21): He mentions that western universities have maths courses that are specific to the area that one studies, such as math for economists and math for scientists, and he is of the view that Shariah colleges should teach introductory kalām for students in various sciences as well. He says that if someone becomes a doctor or any other university educated professional, it is not appropriate for them to remain totally ignorant of kalām, and modern colleges don't teach kalām at all, or if they do, they don't teach if fully. Thoughts?
