yes it is disgraceful but I wonder if that makes any difference. I don't think these labels matter any more. People tend to just shrug them off - 'sulh kulli? yeah, right'. Or they will set off red herrings croaking of hair-splitting definitions. We inhabit a world where words carry no definite meanings and labels are just labels - everyone issues them and no one heeds them. The only fitting response I see is: This is bad and wrong - if you can't get it, if it's not obvious already, you are either hopelessly ignorant or the carcass of your deeni ghayrah is slumbering in some morgue's deep-freezer, most probably the latter. I don't care how many real or fake degrees your shaykh has and how many millions of his mureeds are willing to die for him, this is ALLAH's deen - and nobody can fiddle with it's glaringly manifest boundaries - defended by scholar after erudite scholar, down the generations, across centuries.
Aqdas did a post showing his concern for the Shaykh Yaqoubi issue and some of the mureeds commented that the psuedo brelwis are barking again. Mufti Wajid Iqbal liked that post and later shared a quote from Shaykh Yaqoobi from that day on his page. It is really unfortunate how people like Mufti Wajid want to keep up a front that they are baraylwi and at the same time continue to ignore the clear contradictions that are going on. Wajid did not speak about Akram Nadwi and Shaykh Yaqoobis relationship being detrimental to the sunni masses and it being outright dangerous for the mureeds. Even worse was that he was seen present in the Akram gathering. He later told people that he only went to speak to Shaykh Yaqoobi and to warn him. When Wajid was asked to share Shaykh Yaqoobis response and to write it on social media he said that it was no ones's business. He has now failed to speak out against the praisal of Dr Tahir. When it came to speaking against Shaykh Bouti on secondary issues and after he died then it was all guns blazing. Wajid has not even studied outside of Bradford so what concern was it for him to speak about the Arab world? As one of the muftis of his camp it is wajib upon wajid to speak against Shaykh Yaqoobi praising This stuff is hypocrisy of the worst kind. Even worse is the fact that so many people did bayah with Shaykh Yaqoobi because they thought his way was in accordance to the way of Ala Hazrat. Mufti Wajid now has a group of students in Bradford such as Umar Asif and Sudagar and Junaid who began as Baralywis but are now becoming watered down and confused sulha kullis who will go out their way to defend anything their peer does because they were pushed into doing ba'yah and joining the tariqa. The irony is that Mufti Wajid and his crew need Ala Hazrat's name and the Bandalaywi scholars for acceptance so they drop the baralywi bandayalvi flex when it suits them and then the don the moroccan thobe and become passive sufis when it suits them. When news came out that Woodlands Road Mosque had a dispute inside of it and people were banned from entering because they were creating mishief. Mufti Wajid felt it was important to write a fatwa that there is no jummah inside of a mosque that bans people and his brothers in the sophisicated shadhili tariqa which has been blown to smithereens decided to share and like that post. When it comes to issues of theology and their own peer then mufti wajid remains shut.
I expected better from the sayyid ....very disappointed by his stance...he was once a reputable scholar. One of the few sunni Arab ulema who spoke English. He has disappointed the very principles he once stood for...when he praised Ala Hazrat Rahmatullah Alayhi ...was that merely superficial.

Maybe if the scholars of Sham (Ie the notable ones still living Like Sheikh Nuruddin itr) pass a fatwa on Tahir it would get more traction and have a greater affect. The Arab sunni ulema are quiet these days...not much is spoken of them. Also what happen to Hanson's discussion with Sheikh Asrar which was supposed to take place.
after he shared stage with akram nadwi and hamza hanson, and praised them...little surprise if he hobnobs with tahir/minhaj. nas'alu Allah al-aafiyah.
Is the sheikh aware of the deviance of Tahir?...Maybe no one has informed him. Is it possible that we contact his mureeds and get them to inform him. Also is he sharing a stage with Tahir?
