I don't know why AbdalQadir is promoting Owaisi, how come only person from 200 Million muslims is allowed to speak ?!
Anyone other than Owaisi if he speaks like Owaisi either gets killed or disappears.

Please, Owaisi has done more damage than anyone else. These guys have been in politics for the last 50 years, show me a single thing which they have done for muslims apart from amassing wealth and gonda gardi.

    some media files:

    1) demonstration in Bareilly Shareef:

    [IMG]https://www.4shared.com/video/O08UikkBiq/VID-20191222-WA0030.html

    ------------

i was waiting to see when the munafiqeen would crawl out of the woodwork:

    2) some shaytan doesn't know what he's saying:

    https://www.4shared.com/video/tiDdls_Biq/VID-20191222-WA0039.html

    3) purported stance of the mujawar of Ajmer Dargah

    https://www.4shared.com/s/fQkc6E_SWiq

    4) rafizi siding with hindutva, as expected:

    https://www.4shared.com/s/fazogH-FHiq

    5) devbandis doing what they do best, showing their nifaq openly:

    https://www.4shared.com/s/fwsIWHNAXea

they've effectively made a fool out of the many devbandis who protested against the act.

    -------------

it's just sad those poor young boys pulled out of their homes by UP police for no reason other than sitting at home and having dinner, for "precautionary measures" against protesting, might go to these same shayateen (media files 2-4) for religious guidance once the issue is over, or will end up hating the mullah forever! (sorry for ranting again, but educating the kids and youth is once more a long term project, and at times like this we can't train them on the nuances of Sunni devbandi ikhtilafat or identifying a murshide kamil and so on; in such situations some people can even become murtad, and we seek Allah's refuge)

also lobby support with popular journalists and media outlets as well as businessmen, social media influencers, and the like.

be sure not to use the help of any murtaddeen like qadiyanis and ed hussein and others. british media has a lot of qadiyani journos. some in american media too.

for the short term, which is what is pertinent right now, the key thing here is bringing out numbers and mobilizing people.

that can only be done by people with fan followings and mureeds/followers - political personalities and maulanas mainly, but also popular professors, local lower level netas, shayars, lawyers etc. in some cases

we need to reach out to them as fast and as effectively as possible and for a moment leave our shakhsiyat parasti aside.

one might not like owaisi, but if you have access to him and can get him to say something, do it. you might not like this or that pir and his mureeds but don't be a fitnah monger at this sensitive time and stoke flames of 'this guy once had a biryani with devbandis, and you expect me to rally behind him?' or 'this guy's not a real Sunni because my shaykh said so' and 'my pir has better dreams than your pir' and other such nonsense.

they need to be convinced to mobilize and rally their follower base and taught the right slogans and chants to use right now that will strike the raw nerves of the enemy immediately. (like mamta bannerjee's invoking the UN for a referendum, something she later retracted)

maulanas and masjid imams need to be told to pray Qunut al-Nawazil during Fajr prayers (as per Ala Hazrat's fatwa for Hanafis for times of distress). we should issue shraap's to yogi, modi, shah and the sanghis from our minbars, in order to instill fear in their hearts!

    ----------

Muslim indians abroad should not shy away from using politicized slogans, buzzwords and dog-whistles and make sure the indian government's, the bjp's, and the hindutva campaign's image abroad is tarnished properly. we should learn from the pains of the Uighurs and the HK protesters.

the current government and its top dogs should be called terrorists and the bjp government should be called a state sponsor of 'saffron terrorism' or 'hindu terrorism'

indian police should be called a 'terrorist organization'. same for the CRPF, and same for the army

i know we have well meaning (or opportunistic) hindus too siding with us but we should not shy away from using the words 'hindu terrorism'

if it was even one admitted hindu patient with a broken leg on a plaster that was dragged out of a hospital by kashmiris, no hindu, extremist or secular, would shy away from calling him an 'islamist' or 'jihadist' or 'Muslim terrorist'. police has dragged admitted patients, who were injured by lathi charge, out of hospitals in Aligarh

people in the usa and uk need to write to their MP's, senators, congressmen, etc. and get them to publicly denounce saffron hindu terrorism by the current indian regime!

i have no sympathy for anyone (Muslim) wallowing in deshbhakti at this moment and suggesting we can't badmouth our motherland.

for those who think it will be contrary to maslaha and counter-productive to our objective, i strongly disagree with them. i think overseas Muslim indians need to tarnish india's image abroad and portray the government and regime as bigoted, racist, apartheidal, oppressionist and institutionalized terrorism

    ----------

plus sorry for the cliched rant but we only awaken when something seriously harmful happens and then expect a karamat at that time.

we have forsaken long term action and strategies and live in a world of dreams and karaamaat, and we have a disgusting habit of trashing those who do take imperfect action, while we take no action at all ourselves.

information exchanges, money transfer systems, networks, educating people, setting up IT and social media broadcasting cells etc. are things that should have been done as long term initiatives, but alas. this isn't the time for start ups and infrastructure development, and quite frankly, all this jazba will die out as soon as the smoke settles (not talking about you personally, but about Muslims in india generally). what actions exactly have we taken for uplifting our society and our cause at a grassroots level since the demolition of Babri Masjid?

the bjp has come to see this day not out of the blue. despite being the majority and the enemy, they have been taking massive and consistent action, while we were busy in other pursuits and drafting fancy titles for our shuyukh

a lot of people seem to forget that almost all the muddas that the bjp has raised, were actually small/large fires started by the congress in the 90's - Babri Masjid, the ram rajya slogan, the triple talaq bill, etc. etc. the bjp only brought them to fruition or improvised on them while the congress plays the dove carrying the olive branch. this specific one may not be one of them, but that's the reality.

    ----------

right now, for Muslims, with 370 removed, and the CAA+NRC, all of india is effectively kashmir and kashmir is all of india

i think (feel free to disagree) it is a punishment for our shunning the kashmiris, not worrying about their suffering, and treating them unequal to us. i'm not saying this from a pakistani perspective of political opportunism and adventurism, but in the context of Muslim indians themselves wherein we have never worried about them or raised our voice for them. we should have actually been hard enough on the congress itself on a variety of issues that the bjp wouldn't even contemplate getting this far! of course, their gaddaar elements are another story for another day.

here's a thought for the day:

miyanbhai who's complacent with the congress, will suffer under the bjp!

this is going to get worse. the two monsters modi and shah - and the rest of RSS are as bloodthirsty as the ghengiz khan's hordes (but utter cowards and idiots).

everyone in india should now install and setup mesh chat software which works without internet.

you will find these apps on google play and app store.

please share these lists; very useful. remember that we have allies among non-muslims. even though this is used to target muslims, it will eventually engulf all of them. they know it and many are standing with us a decent humans. credit where it is due.

the BJP-RSS pogrom is following the old style fascist playbook. we know what happens.

apologies for the dark humour, but the good thing (for us) about this gang is that they are illiterate, idiots using a 1935 playbook. they imagine themselves to be israelis, and delude themselves to be the inquisitors of spain. in reality, they can be easily fooled, scared and overcome. but that is for some other day.

right now, please share the following lists in all your india-groups and urge them to download, note down etc. VERY IMPORTANT:

we won't give up without a fight - and fight we will. in sha'Allah wa bi tawfiqihi.

there are lots of things to do - we can do - even if we are not on the ground. i will come up with a starter list and people can add to it.

prashant bhusan is a senior supreme court of india lawyer. a 'secular' guy. (i will also explain 'secular' used in indian context; it is weird but that is how it is.) in other words, a guy who doesn't bear enmity with muslims or an islamophobe.

been busy with NRC CAA stuff.

    ---
CAB - citizenship amendment bill is now CAA - citizenship amendment act. the rubber stamp minion (i.e. president of india) has signed it into an act in a midnight session.

post this, there will be NRC - national register of citizens.

perhaps for the first time in living memory, hindus have come out in large numbers supporting muslims for an issue that mainly affects muslims. that is an encouraging sign. but the cynic in me thinks that it will fizzle out. unless the majority truly recognises that this is the end of everything and work to break shah-modi grip on the country.

i usually refrain from making pronouncements or sounding grim - but it appears that india is heading towards balkanisation and facing an all out civil war. dire times ahead. nas'alu Allaha al-aafiyah.

    ---
let me quickly update on what CAA and NRC is for those who don't live in india and who are not indian.

NRC requires every resident in the country to register as a citizen. in other words 1.2 billion people are deemed illegal by default and then required to prove that they are indeed citizens. crazy, but true.

a bhutanese journalist puts it well:

thanks sherkhan for the detailed analysis

couple of points come to mind, my own, as well as word on the street among other Muslim indians

let me just remind the others here of the 1970's - indira gandhi and the emergency. indira gandhi was a modi and shah combo packed into a female, and more. as a leader within the republic of india context, 20 current pappu's together can't match her political prowess, mettle or legacy

it wasn't an explicitly anti-Muslim scenario but nonetheless, Muslims were the most harmed by her brutal rule.

forced vasectomies and family planning - Sayyidi Mufti Azam Hind issues a fatwa that it's haram to get a vasectomy. her advisers went to meet him and asked him to retract the fatwa. he told them fatwa won't be retracted but you'll lose the power (as i've heard from reliable Sunnis). sure enough, the emergency subsided, and indira gandhi was gunned down by her own body guards.

plus she consulted with her advisers regarding arresting Mufti Azam Hind rahimahullah, and they told her it would spark a revolution in india if she did so at that time, even wahabis and devbandis and shias would come out on the streets

that is a Muslim leader and his leadership - both religious and worldly

even in these times, all said and done, i do commend Asaduddin Owaisi for speaking up, even if only diplomatically and not in his typically confrontational manner

secondly, i think Muslim indians overseas should lobby for a BDS campaign against india - in europe, north america, africa, middle east - in political and business circles. indian government is not in a mood for bad international publicity right now. in the west right now, the islamophobia wave is in a somewhat of a retrograde thanks to trump's overly racist activities and pushing people onto a liberalist rebound. i don't know much about the uk, but i'm assuming with borris johnson taking office there, the same thing's gonna happen there too (he's going to be a right wing racist arse, and the public discourse is going to rebound towards a more leftist side). so it's not bad timing for pushing for a BDS campaign against the indian alt-right - by Muslims of indian stock. i don't think it will achieve anything other than publicity and media space and that is what we want. if we don't do that and give bad publicity to india, i think we might end up the same way as the Bosnians, Uighurs and the Moors. it will be too late by the time the rest of the world is aware of our plight.

thirdly, word on the street among the average Muslim (Sunni or not) overseas - based on what their friends and relatives back home are telling them - is that right now there's zero point staying quiet. they believe the situation has hit the lowest it has gotten given the circumstances and any further inaction or silence is pretty much handing over our daughters and sisters to them (al 3eyadhu billah). all those things you pointed out. they won't be particularly safe sitting at home or staying quiet and will only sink deeper. so at this point in time they have to raise their voice and come out on the street. it would cost us about 2,000-10,000 martyrs but it's a price worth paying right now to take care of our situation in india. people are particularly amazed that this was an initiative by the youth and not your typical bearded maulanas on minbars. sure, some people might say it's easy for me or anyone else to say we can sacrifice 10K Muslims when we are safe overseas and it's not our house that are lathi charged and not our sons locked up in unknown locations and not our sisters threatened, so i reiterate that this is what people overseas are saying they are hearing from Muslims (youth, if not all) back home. plus, they're saying we're bound to lose that many people to mob lynching, false arrests, beef ban, kashmir shutdown etc. anyways, so might as well get out on the street. thankfully the youth have realized this more than the maulana (any sect). this is what Muslims overseas say Muslims back home are telling them

all said and done, i don't buy the 'but things are different now' line. this is not a new problem for Islam or Muslims. just read history.

it might need strategizing to deal with it and a concerted effort, but certainly not silence or inaction, specially from our ulema and pirs

on the contrary, i believe they would shake them to their roots, if only they were of the spiritual, knowledge and worldly caliber of Mufti Azam Hind rahimahullah

exactly. and they (many maulanas) love fame, lofty titles, mureed following, and gandhiji way too much not to promote compliance.

Allah knows best and may He help us.

I personally think ulema should refrain from being the face of agitation or being directly embroiled in protests (especially given the clear and present danger of being "identified by their clothes"). For any "political" issues/crisis (such as CAB/NRC, Kashmir etc.), this is best left to community/political leaders or even minority institution student protestors.

Ulema can/should quietly mobilise opinions/actions away from scrutiny and counsel masses on such issues. One Imam, I know, had been urging his Friday gatherings for last 2 years (even before pan-India NRC was only in the realms of rumours) to be prepared with necessary identification documents.

However, ulema need to be vocal and vociferous on religious issues such as triple talaq, uniform civil code, etc. Anything that impacts the deen must be unitedly, unambiguously fronted/spearheaded by ulema, lest the community leaders confuse the masses with liberal views.

In the run-up to the Babri masjid judgement, I was sickened to hear public views/interviews of few sunni ulema on how they would respect any supreme court judgement, no matter what. The battle was lost when compliance was promoted as the only option.

Some Indian ulemas I met in August didn't have a clue on how to react to this development. I asked them if they should raise their voices in Friday pre-khutbas. But it seems that everyone is looking over their shoulder fearing authorities to swing into action against them (with trumped-up sedition charges) should they raise their voice.

Rightly or wrongly such is the paranoia against the state machinery (and its capability to snoop) that even whatsapp groups are exercising caution and self-censorship of content, lest it fall foul of majoritarian view. I innocently forwarded an Orijit Sen cartoon post the Babri Masjid judgement, and how I got such concerned reactions as if the entire whatsapp group was now in deep trouble due to me.

    ------

I pointedly (and provokingly) asked a group of ulemas if they should give a call for struggle (not that I am a votary of such call given the prevalent conditions) or even hijarat. Expectedly, I got few shocked gasps, raised eyebrows, cold sighs and shoulder shrugs.

That was cue for me to remind them of AlaHazrat’s prescient work, Tadbir e-Falah o Najat o Islah. I forwarded them abu Hasan’s translation, Prospects for Recovery, to remind them of what the grand Imam prescribed for such trying times. As expected, encomiums poured for AlaHazrat, but no follow-up action plan was even mooted or chalked! Daily lives overtook mine and their mundane pursuits, and the epistle’s exhortation was all but buried in the recesses of thoughts. Another crisis will prod us to revisit the epistle again, but actions will not even be contemplated.

I am not suggesting that our ulemas are being blase or indifferent to the new developments. They are as concerned (or probably even more) than the Muslim populace; but there is lack of initiative, co-ordination or any understanding of what effective counter-measures can be undertaken. Indian Muslims (especially the ulemas) are in double-bind. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t! One arm-chair expert even pro-offered me a view that if any influential religious leader were to even give a call to take to street, they will be first to be targeted and hounded, and any agitation will be nipped in the bud.

    -----

If Muslims choose not to protest in the face of communal discrimination, they are often blamed for not standing up for their rights. When they do protest on the streets, however, their agitation can be twisted to suit the hindutva agenda and further communal polarisation. It gives perverse opportunity to state machinery to stigmatise, ghettoise and pulverise Muslims. Indiscriminate police action in Jamia Milia and AMU (and calls for shoot-at-sight) only underscores the dangers of Muslim protests, even if done in the most peaceful manner. State is willing to mollycoddle any protest against jalikattu, sabarimala or even against Padmavati, but doesn’t even bat an eyelid in brutally crushing even the green shoots of protests from Muslims.

The history of organising previous peaceful protests, such as one in Azad Maidan, Mumbai called by Raza Academy, another in Malda called by Edara-e-Shariah, holds a sobering lesson. These innocuous rallies got subverted by planted state miscreants and degenerated into scenes that were exploited and over-played by right-wing media to paint Muslims as the instigators and perpetrators of the violence

In light of such experiences, Indian Muslims have often been justifiably cautious about choosing to protest against the government. Some secular Muslims are of view that any protest is best done through secular forums and platforms. They opine that Muslims should look to “secular” opposition (however ineffectual and opportunists they may be) and liberal voices to offer an alternative platform to spearhead the protest and air community’s grievances. Sadly such views are completely off-moored from the realities on the ground.

Another unfortunately misplaced view is that some kind of civil disobedience Gandhian movement will help liberate Muslims from current morass. These liberals couldn’t be more mistaken. Such civil disobedience only works when the protesting masses constitute the majority against minority rulers. It worked for Gandhi in India, it worked for Mandela. It won’t ever work for Palestine, nor ever for minority Indian Muslims. They will simply get crushed, more battered under the weight of ruthless majority. Boycott or struggle, as AlaHazrat points out, will be counter-productive in face of backlash of the powerful.

    ------

There is no ready, easy solution. Fleeing to the mountains, burying the head in the sand, waiting for another storm to pass will only exacerbate the problem. If no reaction is coming, more suffering will be heaped. It is easy to judge and comment from the safe confines of western shores, but hard to fathom the helplessness of people or alleviate their situation on the ground.

So until the next misfortune befalls, let’s not stir!

AQ is a well-meaning non-resident(?) Indian(?). He is not wrong in questioning why ulemas have chosen silence.

    ------

I happened to be in India immediately after the article 370 was abrogated and Kashmir put in indefinite lockdown; I had a first-hand feel of the impact. Shock was rather raw for most Indian Muslims. Matters were discussed in hushed tones in public, within febrile earnestness in homes and privacy of community spaces, amplified even further by agitated voices in “echo chambers” of whatsapp groups.

But what struck me the most was the utter despondency, fear and helplessness - a strange sense of torpor (near zombified reaction) prevailed in public. None of this was surprising given how Muslims had recently reacted to triple talaq bills etc. Of course, times have changed, leadership (if ever there was any) is emasculated and cravenness has become life-preserving virtue.

Away from bills and judgements, life for Muslims at mundane, lower level has been hemmed up, chipped away and knocked down ruthlessly by powers and rabid hindus in general. The “othering” project is all but complete. Inevitability of another humiliation and more suffering hangs heavy in the air and minds of every Indian Muslim.

    ------

This Eid ul-Adha, it was distressing to see Muslims opting to bury the qurbani hides (chamdas) instead of trying to realise any value out of it (either by selling or donating to masjids/madrasahs). What used to retail for Rs 800-2,000 a piece couldn't even be sold for Rs 100. I could be wrong but anecdotally it appears that 80-90% of the hides were wasted, either out of fear of transporting safely or to cynically to deny the (hindu) leather merchants from taking advantage of artificially depressed price. My back-of-envelope (conservative) calculation tells me that country-wide that may have amounted to a loss of Rs 800 crores in unrealised value (that may otherwise have gone to financially help thousands of madrasahs/masajids/orphanages).

Livelihoods from tanneries, cattle transport, meat-selling etc. (which traditionally have been dominated by Muslims) have seized up. If that is not enough, small Muslim traders are routinely hounded out from mixed-space markets. More sinisterly, hindus have increasingly and actively taken to boycotting retails owned by Muslims. What used to be a gujarat-wide phenomena, has now well and truly become a pan-India movement. Hidden behind occasional stories (and public company posturing) of zomato Muslim delivery boycotts is the fact that businesses like zomato etc. have now consciously cut down on hiring Muslims.

Even back in August, imposition of impending NRC/CAB was stoking fears and there was near-panic reaction in every Muslim household preparing/collecting documentation for NRC register. While hindus are blissful and blase about the new exercise, Muslims, educated or uneducated, are feverishly preparing for new life in queues with earnestness.

the letter seems to be from an indian student at al-Azhar, someone from rampur perhaps

we can cry over what happened in 1947 but that won't chart the course of action for us here and now (i agree with you re the batwara, but the silver lining, maybe just one, in all of this is that Muslims have nuclear power)

that's great. can you please post written responses, newspaper op-eds, fatawa, video & audio links etc. from big name Sunnis; and then from big name wahabis - the kind of people who would elicit a 'labbaik' were they to command something from the minbar. personally, i've only seen something from Owaisi.

as for Muslims elsewhere, at least in pakistan (i ain't pakistani), some Sunni scholars are speaking. for Muslim governments, you know the story.

It's funny how non-Indian subcontinental Muslims take the high ground when something like this happens.

If only Muslims made up half the country, eh? Imagine how different it would have been. But thieves broke into your living room and made themselves at home so you decided to move next door. You didn't realise you left your family upstairs and essentially trapped them.

Picture it. A united India including the regions if not only the Muslims of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Burma.

You abandoned us and left us to fend for ourselves. Now you tell us what we should be doing.

Who is silent? Don't worry. Our Ulama have already spoken and we're doing what we can. The question is what are you doing?

Don't forget though that the Indian government insulted your countries because the entire basis of the bill is that you persecute the people they're opening the door to. Where are the protests in these countries? Who is making it clear to their government that it should not cooperate with the Indian regime? What hope for aid can we have when time and time again Muslim minorities in various countries called out for help but no Muslim country answered?

Please, you take care of your end. Until then, we'll try to manage without you like we've always had to.

Allah give us all the tawfiq for some introspection.
