What's the ruling regarding those holidays (business scheme days as I call it) such as Mother's day, father's day, Independence etc. Which are not rooted or considered part of any religious holiday/ celebration.
Imam Hamid Rida Khan Baraylawi in Fatawa Hamidiyyah, p.140: That Isa عليه السلام wasn't killed or crucified, is from aqayid qat'iyyah (definite) yaqiniyyah (certain) imaniyyah (faith), denial of which is kufr.
Easter is the Christian celebration of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. It is kufr to believe in the crucifixion as it's denying the Quran (4:157): وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ And they did not kill him nor did they crucify him. So anyone who now believes Jesusعليه السلام was killed or crucified has denied this explicit verse and therefore become a kafir. So Muslims MUST abstain from marking Easter. It would come under celebrating a day of kufr about which our jurists said: Alahazrat writes, quoting Ghamz al-Úyūn al-Başāyir: Whosoever considers any [religious] action of the disbelievers as commendable has committed kufr, as agreed by all scholars. (FR, 21:186) Lent is the period of 40 days which comes before Easter. So marking that too would fall under the rubric of commemorating Easter, a festival of kufr. Shrove Tuesday was named after the custom of Christians to be "shriven" before the start of Lent. Shrove Tuesday is also known as "Pancake Day" or "Pancake Tuesday", as it became a traditional custom to eat pancakes as a meal. So, in brief, Pancake Day is to mark Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday marks the start of Lent. Lent symbolises the start of Easter. Easter commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus. To believe Jesus was crucified is kufr. So marking Pancake Day is forbidden and could easily be kufr. We are aware Muslims may inadvertently partake in making and eating pancakes on this day but due it's origin, this must be avoided. It wouldn't be kufr to do so without prior knowledge but avoidance is necessary once the basis of the practice is known. It would only be kufr if it's done to honour Easter. If done without this intention, it would be forbidden but not kufr, but haram nonetheless. Imam Mulla Ali Qari writes: In conclusion, he who purchases something on a Navrūz (the Magian festival of new year) that is not [ordinarily] purchased by Muslims, has committed kufr. It has been reported of Abū Ĥafş al-Kabīr al-Bukhārī that he said: “Even if a man worships Allāh táālā for fifty years, and on the day of Navrūz gifts something to polytheists, to honor their [religious] festival, he has committed kufr and disbelieved in Allāh táālā; his deeds of fifty years have gone to waste.” If one goes to the platform of disbelievers – that is, a [religious] gathering of infidels – on Navrūz, he has committed kufr; because, this is an advertisement of kufr, and this person has as if aided them in their proclamation of disbelief. (Minaĥ al-Rawđ al-Az’har, p.282)
