sidi aH is referring to pg.158 of TKM, although I had come across this hypothetical question before keller's article and the scholar who told me about it gave a very good reply but, unfortunately, I can't seem to remember it completely.

I wonder in which age did this 'moon-stone' question originate....

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

^the answer Alf linked to in post # 3 is given by Shaykh Abu Adam and not keller, and regardless of if his answer is right or wrong or partially right or a matter of debatable finer details in 3aqidah, he does not speak about the Prophet, 3alaihis salam, with keller's hubris and pretense.

    ask keller.
he knows that this knowledge does not belong to creation.

people have been trying to estimate the total number of atoms in the observable universe which is much more difficult than estimating the total number in one's toe - so believing that Allah's chosen servants can know such huge numbers is not far fetched - the important thing is that these are finite and hence can be part of human knowledge. Prophet Adam ('alayhissalaam) knew 'asmaa kulla ha' and that's a much more stupendous than knowing a large number - such as a 'googol'.

In a hadith our Master(peace be upon him) is reported to have said: Sayyiduna Umar's (radhiAllahuanhu) good deeds are at par with the number of stars in the sky and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr's (radhiAllahuanhu) surpass this number; indicating that he(peace be upon him) knew the total number of stars in the sky (universe?).

And Gawth-e-Azam's (radhiAllahuanhu) statement that he sees the whole universe as a grain of mustard on his palm.

A question: If a stone rolls over the surface of the moon does the Prophet(peace be upon him) come to know of it.

    jazakAllah.
    wassalaam.

QUESTIONS ON THE PROPHET'S AND THE AWLIYA'S KNOWLEDGE OF THE GHAYB (UNSEEN)

    Quote:
The knowledge of the awliya' may attain higher levels than that of any other knowledge of humankind and jinn including in certain cases even the knowledge of Prophets. The preternatural knowledge or powers which Allah bestows on some of His friends (awliya') who are not Prophets have a firm basis in the Qur'an: for example, the wali who was with Prophet Sulayman and brought him the throne of Balqis faster than the blink of an eye. He was characterized as "one who had knowledge of the Book" as Allah stated:

One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: I will bring it thee (O Sulayman) before thy gaze returneth unto thee... (27:40)

and this is Prophet Sulayman's scribe Asif ibn Barkhya according to the Tafsir Ibn `Abbas and the majority of the scholars, i.e. a non-Prophet human being:

"One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture": i.e. an angel... or Jibril... or al-Khidr or Asif ibn Barkhya Sulayman's scribe, which is the most correct, and the jumhur (majority) agrees upon it...31

Similarly, al-Khidr -- although considered by many to be a Prophet -- possessed knowledge which Prophet Musa did not have and he is characterized as "one of Our slaves, unto whom We had given mercy from Us, and had taught knowledge from Our presence" (18:66).

However, the greatest of Allah's Friends are those of the Community of the Seal of Prophets, and it is in this sense that Abu Yazid al-Bistami's declaration must be understood whereby "We have crossed an ocean on the shores of which stood the Prophets." That is: the awliya' of the Community of the Prophet Muhammad, blessings and peace upon him, have inherited from him a knowledge and a position which the Prophets of Banu Isra'il yearned to attain. This is established by the hadith of Abu Malik al-Ash`ari we have just cited, and yet this does not contradict the fact that the Prophets are by far Allah's elect in creation, as Imam Tahawi's article of faith makes clear:

We do not prefer any of the saintly men of the Community over any of the Prophets but rather we say that any one of the Prophets is better than all the awliya' put together.

no it is not correct entirely.

how does he know this? who informed him of this?

    ---
shaykh muhammad ibn ja'afar al-kattani in his jala'a al-qulub has explained it; and alahazrat in his many epistles.

    wa billahi't tawfiq.

Read the last part of the article and the comments section.

    Ya Sayyidi, can we say:

“The Prophet knows all that is written to be in this world pertaining to his Ummah.”?

His reply: No, he has general knowledge about many events, as seen above, but only Allaah knows all the details. The number of atoms in your right big toe nail at different points in time, for example does not belong to human knowledge.

    Is the answer correct?

Brother, since "things" in everything encompass the set of all creation, for sure Rasool Allah salAllaho alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam, has knowledge of everything, all of creation by the gift of Allah. No Muslim can ever say or believe, being sane, that RasoolAllah salAllaho alaihi alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam has the same amount of knowledge as Allah Jalla Shanahu. It makes no sense even saying such a thing. I am quite surprised how wahabis have made an issue out of such an issue. They are by far the dumbest people I have seen.

And you cannot quantify knowledge here. But the knowledge of Allah is greater than what He, out of His mercy has given to RasoolAllah salAllaho alaihi wa aalihi wa sallam.

Would it be correct to say that the Prophet had knowledge of everything?

Would this not be saying that the Prophet's knowledge is equal to Allah's in terms of quantity?

    jazakallah
