manzur numani wrote a risalah on masalah hazir wa nazir, here is a very breif but nice refutation of him. many of our sunni brothers go overboard and say things which don't belong to ahlussunah creed, we do believe in it with full conviction but the truth is that someone who doesn't believe in it doesn't go out of ahlussunah, however considering it polytheism is certainly deviation, if i remember correctly i read it in maqalat kazmi, molana ghulam rasul saeedi also has aid it in his follow up refutation of sarfaraz safdar on tawDih al-bayan, and here at the end of the book hazrat madani miyan says the same.
