This is one of the greatest speeches you will hear on the topic of the
proximity [qurb] of the Messenger to Allah and one of the most
powerful and learned too. The Shaykh dwells at length on the verse
'thumma dana fata dalla' and discusses the Prophet's meeting with His Lord on
    the night of the Mi'raj.

He then reproaches those who would liken themselves to Allah's Messenger
saying that he صلى الله عليه وسلم has no mithl (likeness) amongst all of creation. The
talk ends with the Shaykh explaining that, in his view, if anyone could have
said that he was was mithl of the Prophet it would have been Hazrat Ali
and he then lists all the unique qualities of Imam Ali. Yet, the Shaykh concludes, quoting from the Sihah Sittah, Imam Ali himself said that
'I am a slave amongst the slaves of the Prophet!' (Ana 'abeedum min 'ibaadi Muhammad) and didn't dare make such a claim which some people have been making for the past century or so.

A masterpiece. Please listen to it.
