really, if I could give this post a 100 'likes' I would. Mawlana surpasses a lot of us who claim love for Alahazrat. For those who can feel, here's much to feel ...

Shaykh Asrar also mentioned same in his lecture on Aqidah At Tahawi (13:45 min).

When Abu Jafar Ahmed bin Abi Imran came to Egypt Imam Tahawi joined his classes and became hanafi in furu.

I'm reading Urdu translation of khayrat al hisan by Mufti zafar ul din bihari which says that Imam tahawi chose the hanafi school due to imam muzani referring extensively to the qiyas of Imam Abu hanifah.

  4. You have it mixed up with Kashf ul Astaar the explanation of Sharh Ma'ani al Aathaar by Imam Abu Ja'afar al Tahawi al Hanafi 'alaihi al rahmah. Bihamdillahi Ta'ala two volumes have been published so far. al Muhaddith al Kabeer 'Allamah Zia ul Mustafa al Qadri hafizahullahu Ta'ala has been working on this great work al Hamdulillah.

It is available from Maktabah Qadria Bolton UK.

  5. The book is Kashf ul Astaar not astari.

No Sadr ush Shariah Shaykh Mufti Amjad Ali al A'azami 'alaihi al rahmah did not write a Sharh on al Aqeedah al Tahawiyyah.

Ala Hazrat's funeral prayer was led by his eldest son, Hujjatul Islam, Shaykh Hamid Raza Khan.

I heard (and I may be wrong) that he did not complete it and that it was lately completed by his knowledgeable son, Muhadith-e-Kabir but remains unpublished.

Did the Mawlana also write a Sharh to Aqida Tahawiyya in Arabic? If yes, has it been published?

The teachers of Abdul Hakim Sharaf rahimahuAllah include:

Shaykh ulKull Allamah Ata Muhammad Bandyalvi

    Allamah Ashraf Siyalvi

    Allamah Mufti AbdulQayum Hazarvi

Was Allama Sardar Ahmad his teacher?

yes, there are certainly two abdul mustafa azmi's, one of them was sadru'sh sharia's son and the other was the shaykh al-hadith at daru'l ulum shah e alam, ahmadabad. it was the latter who was the author of sirat e mustafa and jannati zewar.

this Mawlana Abdul Mustafa is not the son of Sadrush Shari'ah though he also had a son named Abdul Mustafa A'azmi Azhari.

dunno why i wrote sukni, back then. probably to force it to rhyme with a'azmi (which won't anyway). sukna, it should have been.

Muhaddith-e-A'zam Hind Kachochawi was a student of Muhaddith Surati. Muhaddith-e-A'zam asked his teacher if Imam Ahmad Raza was at the same level as him in hadith. Muhaddith Surati replied that, "Hargiz nahiN, hargiz nahiN".

Muhaddith Surati then said, "Do you understand what my reply meant?" I meant that Imam Ahmad Raza is Ameer al-Mu'mineen fil Hadith...".

I read this in this months Ashrafia.

What? No way! I read about him a few months ago when he met the editor of Jaame Noor, the grandson of 'Allama Arshad, Maulana Khushtar Noorani (Aleeg). It only mentioned he was ill.

I am sure you are wrong. Can someone please find out.

Jazak Allah. I didn't know 'Allama Arshad was his brother-in-law and neither did I know that 'Allama 'Abdul Mustafa was his son! Both very influencial Sunni ulema.

Both great books. He wrote in the prologue of Seerat.e.Mustafa that it would have been longer but people of our age need conciseness and he was also ill at the time.

Is 'Sunni bahshati zewar' his book?

As for Sher besha'e ahle sunnat maulana hashmat ali, i once heard he had 150 debates with the wahabiya! wow! and i've also been told it was as though he received answers from the unseen, that's how good he was. i have heard his son, maulana idris raza, in my indian hometown of malegaon. he is also very harsh against the wahabiya.

maulana sharaf qadri, he is the pride of ahlus sunnah. his refutation of ihsan ilahi qateel called al-barelwiya ka tahqeeqi aur tanqeedi jaeza is worth reading. makes zahir look like a fool that he was.

also, i think it is under maulana qadris patronage that the fatawa ridawiya is being republished in 30 volumes. he is ill at present, please do dua for his health.

[I read that it was alaHazrat who gave him the title of Sadrush Shari'at. There are a few taqareez also by alaHazrat in the opening chapters of Bahar.e.Shari'at.]
    yes on both counts.

    --
[I also read in the book called AlaHazrat bazabaane Sadre Shari'at that alaHazrat would not listen to the wa'z (speech) of anyone apart from Sadrush Shari'at and one or two others.]
i think i have read that too.

    --
[Also, when alaHazrat became ill during one of his speeches, he ordered Sadrush Shari'at to finish off the speech.]
    possible.

    --
[Muhaddith.e.Kabir 'Allama Zia.ul.Mustafa is the son of Sadrush Shari'at, right?]
    yes.

also, the late mawlana arshadu'l qadri was mawlana amjad ali's brother-in-law (and student.)

mawlana abdul Mustafa a'azmi azhari was another of his sons - his book 'seerat e mustafa' and (probably 'jannati zeywar' also) are very useful beginner's guides.

mawlana waqaruddin, mawlana sardar ahmed (muhaddith of pakistan), mawlana hashmat 'ali, mawlana abdul Hakim sharaf qadri, mujahid e millat mawlana Habibu'r Rahman are among his prominent students.

it is also said, that he was the first to use the referral "a'azami"; until then, people from a'azamgarh, a city in uttarpradesh, northern india, would call themselves as a'zamgarhi. mawlana amjad ali was the first to call himself an a'azami. alaHazrat in his attestation refers to this in his unique style:

    ...a'azami bi'l madh'hab wa'l mashrab wa's sukni...

    since he is from the madh'hab of imam al-a'azam, he is a'azami by madh'hab;
    since he is from the Tariqah of ghawth al-a'azam, he is a'azami by Tariqah (or mashrab);
and since he is from a'azamgarh (in uttar-pradesh, india), he is a'azami by reference to his place.

gone are the days, when people were so refined, subtle and their speech so nuanced..
