    Salaam alaykom

Are the azaan and khutbah of jum3a counted as part of jum3a or are they completely separate from jum3a?

It could be because of the ikhitilaf there is on this issue. Fatawa Nooria mentions it is mustahabb to both answer the adhan and kiss thumbs. Alahazrat rahimahullahi has also asked us not to fight on this issue, as there is ikhtilaf between imam al-a'zam and sahibayn, rahimahumullah, on this (when to stop talking etc).

The awam is not obliged to follow the qawl which prohibits answering the azan or kissing the thumbs.

Alhamdolillah, I have had the opportunity to pray juma at many masjids in the UK. However, the one thing I have noticed is that at least 70% of the awam kiss there thumbs at the adhan just before khutba. What suprises me is the fact that this is done directly infront of the Imam, but the he never stops them from doing this. Why? Is there is any reason behind this?

    JazakAllah
