    another important point to note:

no sin is 'minor' or 'inconsequential' because it is disobedience to our Creator. It is called a 'minor' sin only in comparison to other sins regarding which an explicit dire warning and prohibition is evident from the texts and have therefore been termed as 'major' sins. So if someone says that Prophets can commit minor sins (ali'iyadhubillah) then he is in-fact saying that Prophets can disobey their Lord in some matters!

it is agreed upon (ijma') that it is impossible for any Prophet (peace be upon them all) to even intend to commit a sin.

the other day I was passing by a place where deobandis gather on jumuah (I shan't call it a masjid) and the imbecile preacher was howling in the microphone that Sayyiduna Yususf (upon our Prophet and upon him be peace) had had a thought similar to hazrate zulaykha when, as the Qur'an says, he ('alayhissalaam) "saw the evidence of his Lord" and was thus saved from committing the sin!

this is clearly attributing to an honored Prophet of Allah an intention to commit a major sin!

and people ask us why we hate the deobandis and avoid their gatherings like plague.

------------------------ Quote from Bahare Shari'at, Mufti Afthab Cassim's translation-------------------------------

Aqida: It is compulsory for a Nabi to be “Maasoom” (absolutely free from the ability to sin) and this is a unique quality of Nabis and Angels only. With the exception of a Nabi and Angel, none other is Maasoom (free from the ability to sin). To say the Imams to be Maasoom like the Nabis, is to be mislead and irreligious. Ismat-e-Ambia means that the Ambia have been promised protection by Allah, for which reason, it is totally impossible for them to sin and this is different for the Great Imams and the Awliyah Allah. Almighty Allah protects and they do not sin, but according to the Shariah it is not Muhaal for it to happen. It is improper to say that a child is Maasoom as the even though a child does not sin as a child, but the child definitely has the ability to sin.

Aqida: It is unanimously agreed that the Nabis are pure from anything which is dishonorable behavior or qualities, such as Shirk (associating partners with Allah), Kufr (infidelity), lies, dishonesty, and ignorance etc, before attaining Nabuiwat and even after attaining Nabuiwat. They are pure from major and minor sins even before Nabuiwat is bestowed upon them, thus Maasoom.

    Salaam brother

According to what i have heard from the shuyukh regarding this issue is that according to ahle sunnah the "ithma" of the Prophets alayhis salaam is they they are pure from minor and major sins (i.e. they are masoom) and when we read and hear about action, which we in our normal lives and context would assume are mistake, they are not mistakes regarding the prophets and neither should we think in such a manor regarding the Prophet, such situation/actions are not mistake but exemplars for us.

I once had the privilege of siting with a shaykh and someone asked such a question to the shaykh, he gave the following example:

One time Ala Hadret alayhi rehma wardah was giving darse fiqh from fatawa alamgiri and one student said shaykh there is one thing i do not understand, so Ala Hadret alayhi rehma asked the student what his confusion was and the student said, that in alamgir it was stated that if a person stated that when the Beloved Prophet sallahu alayhi was salaam sat down his jubba got dirty then that person had become a rejecter (Kaffir). Ala Hadret alayhi rehma confirm that this fatawa was in fact correct and explain that it should be our aqeeda that we believe the earth was attaining mercy from the Beloved Prophet sallahu alayhi was salaam jubba.

Maybe some more knowledgeable brother/sister can give a better explanation.

What should we consider those who believe our Nabi SallAllaho alayhi wasalam committed minor sins and made mistakes?
