I was informed today that a group of RSS, Shiv Sena and VHP hooligans entered the mazaar shareef of Haji Malang Baba (near Kalyan, Mumbai), and chanted anti Islam slogans, and sang bhajans etc - daring anyone to stop them.

The slogans were provocative, and disgusting. The hooligans had obviously come "well prepared" for a fight.

The small number of Muslims present could only watch in terror. Any attempt to resist would have resulted in chaos and riots.

Obviously, there is a whole lot of truth in the news that broke out on 10 Dec 2014. The RSS (the alma mater of Modi) has now challenged Modi - that it will continue its agenda of forced conversions. I fear this will give further impetus to the new religion that is espoused by Dr Padri, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, etc - I call it Sullah Kufriyyat.

Deoband has a history of lying and drum beating, false propaganda. It was Sunni Ulema - and members of Raza Academy that first went to Agra, and re-converted them to Islam.

If the turn out in the annual Urs e Razavi is anything to go by, we are still in majority - (at least) half a million attended this 25 Safar, 1436. About the number of mosques - this is debatable - but perhaps our money is not well spent on this vital, basic requirement.

i am not surprised at all. Delhi is known to be Debo land, just as much of Haryana and around half of the Khari speaking area stretching from Saharanpur down to Aligarh, with a big Ahle-Hadith population as well.

In Pakistan, majority of the delhites and people from these areas who migrated enmass form the backbone of the debo community in Punjab. The debo community in Pakistan has two backbones:

    1) East Punjabis/Rohtakis/Delhi/Saharanpur belt debos [ including Mewatis ]
    2) Pakhtoons

However, the good news is that due to mingling with local Pakistani Sunnis, half of these delhi debos/ahle-hadith/nadwis have converted back to Sunnis.

In Old Delhi, if you look at the area of 10 sq km from Kashmiri Gate to Daryaganj/Chandni Mahal, from Shahganj to Lal Qila, you will find it teeming with Muslims. I reckon that in this area about 60% of population is Muslim (pre-partition, this was close to 100% Muslim populated area, then hindus and sikhs moved in after migration and have gradually changed the character of this area). Close to 0.5 million Muslims must be living in this area (may be unofficially the actual figure would be double this number).

Guess what, how many barelvi masjids are there in this densely populated area? I am told that Fatehpuri Shahi Masjid is the only barelvi masjid in an area where there must be at least 50-100 masjids (there's literally one in every corner, given the history of this walled city). It's not that there are only handful of barelvis here, but they don't have a masjid to call their own.

may be terminal is too harsh, as i always sense strength from indian Muslims in maintaining sunnism. They are going through what Pakistanis went through in the 70s. But once national concensus develops, it will rebound for sure. This is after meeting Sunnis from Surat, Kerala, Hyderabad, Delhi, Calcutta, and Darbhanga. Also Muslims from Roorkee. i saw a report by the hindu stating that both barelvi and deobandis visited the Bengali Muslims of Agra.

Ground realities are getting worse for Indian Muslims. Most vulnerable are the poor families & migrant families (all branded Bangladeshis). Average Indian Muslim (if educated and well-to-do) is just interested in self-preservation, without any intent to fight for greater common good for the whole community or even for the future generation. While brother Aqib's concerns might sound like plain Pakistani alarmist view to desi Indians, the situation is far worse than what secular media brings to light.

Strangely enough deoband madrasa and TJs (of mewat) immediately jump as potential saviours (see here, last para), but where are "barelvi" organisations? (not that the families who succumb to temptation or pressure and convert to hinduism deserve any sympathy/support)

Truth is that "barelvis" are in terminal decline (organisation and population wise) in India. Sunni religious leaders like to proclaim that vast majority in India is still barelvi, based on my anecdotal experience I find that very hard to believe. It's hard to find a barelvi masjid in Indian cities (probably there's only 1 in every 10). ahle-hadith, deobandis, tablighis, sullah kullis and other deviants are the ones who are growing at the expense of barelvis. Sad times indeed.

the Hindutvadis concentrate on the belt of districts running from Mewat down to Agra, and then in Rajasthan.

Seems like plans to decrease Muslim population in these areas further after the 1947 cleansing.

Allah knows the truth, but "coversion" stories are often laden with hyperbole. in fact our wahabi boys themselves use exaggerated statistics and numbers.

with the kafirs claiming "conversion" to christianity or hinduism, the hyperbole is far worse. sometimes, just taking a sack of rice from some "aid worker" is portrayed as a "conversion".

80% of all statistics are rubbish! they've done surveys on it.

    -----

read: how to lie with statistics

at the beginning of the book, there's a quote by disraeli - "there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics"

disraeli obviously hadn't met keller or hanson or tahir!

    from an old loonwatch article:

what I fear is a gradual consolidation-cum-isolation of power and security apparatus at all levels whilst wearing a mask of economic progress and development and then, having closed all exits, attempting to achieve the long cherished dream of a Hindu-Only India.

What gives me hope is that many great Awliya Allah rest in their blessed graves across the length and breadth of the country. If there're any quarters from which help can come, it's their exalted thresholds. Indian muslims need to realize that if they continue in their lives of gaflah they might have to pay with their lives and their properties and dignity sooner rather than later. It's high time we woke up and repented to Allah ta'ala and busied ourselves in implementing the commandments laid down in surah al-'asr.

i've got nothing against your indignation at modi, and i'm no admirer myself, but at the end of the day modi's just a little fish - just an indian, as an ex-member would say.

what has the Muslim & Arab world done with the elephant in the room - the great u. s. of a. - Iraq, Afghanistan, continuous support to the state of israel, etc.?

most Muslims have developed very short memories - out of wahn - which you have aptly worded as "just for the sake of politics and business"

Muslims worldwide need to be reminded of this hadith:

كيف أنت يا ثوبان إذ تداعت عليكم الأمم كتداعيكم على قصعة الطعام يصيبون منه قال ثوبان بأبي وأمي يا رسول الله أمن قلة بنا قال لا أنتم يومئذ كثير ولكن يلقى في قلوبكم الوهن قالوا وما الوهن يا رسول الله قال حبكم الدنيا وكراهيتكم القتال
