Sorry for digressing on an unrelated thread but nawaz, please answer these for us too (as a matter of principle and not in refutation of anyone in particular) and/or get Zahid shah Sahib or nisar beyg Sahib to answer. --- Please elucidate and issue a ruling concerning: 1. hold a gathering, invite people of various faiths to utter unislamic and polytheistic chants? 2. to tell people of other faiths to call upon their god (or what they consider as god) in their own tradition? 3. to ask/encourage people of other faiths to pray to whatever they consider as gods in their own tradition? 4. to join in a multi-faith prayer with disbelievers with the intention that ‘let each of us call our own god’? 5. to term this action as a Sunnah of the Prophet ?

The Hanafi position as stated by Imam Abu Jafar al-Tahawi (d.320) in his Ikhtilaaf al-Ulama and then it's abridgement Mukhtasar by Imam Abu Bakr al-Jassas (d.370), both, great Hanafi Imams say that OUR school says that there is no death penalty for non-Muslims for blasphemy and there is ta`zir for them.

Hello, just seen properly again what the good dr is proposing. He wants to change the worlds laws and have respect of religions? Good luck with that one. If I then said that the elephant God which the Hindus worship isn't going to help Hindus as its made out of plaster and can't even move...........will that make me guilty of blasphemy against the Hindus???
other meanings of the word doctor: to tamper with; falsify. which seems more like a middle name than a form of address, as in "tahir doctoring jhangvi". i suppose, we can bestow upon him the title of doctor-fiyli (doctor, the verb). ---- we can say tahir dr. instead of dr.tahir which makes more sense and is closer to the truth.
Its all me, me, me with this guy. Any chance for some cheap publicity and he'll take it. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) gets insulted and it seems the good dr seems to be revelling in it. Terrible really
