    Wa 'Alaykum Al-Salaam

There are so many apps, software, on-line classes, etc. out there that it is hard to recommend any as the "best."

I would not recommend Rosetta Stone as it is expensive and in general only gets a person speaking at the basic level.

The absolute best option would be to surround yourself with people fluent in the language who can at least spend 1 hour a day with you. Learning in person, even in a college class, would be better than anything online.

^Just my recommendations based off of experience.

    Salaam alaykum

What is the best app or software to learn to speak modern standard Arabic to enable one to communicate with Arabs in most Arabic countries?

I particularly like the sound of the Yemeni dialect (as spoken by the Habaib for example).

Are Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur any good? Or would it be better to take evening language classes at a local college?
