But great scholars have called Amīr Mu'āwiyah رضي الله عنه Khal ul mumineem and Katib al Wahy.

From a lecture by Allama Muzaffar Husain Shah sahib:

Someone asked me, "Why do you hold a day in honor of Amir Muawiyya radhiAllah anh?"

I (Allama Muzaffar Husain Shah) said, "Ever since I read in the Tafsir of Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Naeemi rahimahullah ta'ala this incident: In the city of Gujarat, Pakistan, there were a number of Tafzilis that were writing books with curses upon Amir Muawiyya radhiAllah anh. In response to this, Hakim-ul-Ummat Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Naeemi rahimahullah ta'ala wrote a risalah (document) in defense of Amir Muawiyya radhiAllah ta'ala anh. It is available in the marketplace. He states that when he wrote that risalah, he had the blessed ziyarat of the Prophet sallAllahu alayhi wa salam that same night. The Prophet sallAllahu alayhi wa salam said to him: 'Ahmad Yaar! You defended (saved) the honor of my Sahabi in this world, on the Day of Judgement, we will defend (save) your honor.'

We have no other reason other than the fact that he is the blessed Sahabi of RasoolAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa salam. People can curse us all they want as long as they don't disrespect the Sahab-e-Kiraam, who have been praised in the Qur'an-e-Karim."

*Great attempt from Hazrat Mowlana Ilyas Attar Qadiri Saheb Hafizahullah for showing the importance of a Great Sahabi Hazrat Syyiduna Ameer Muawiyah رضي الله عنه by announcing to build 22 Masjids on His Name in an era where some Muslims disregard this Great Sahabi of Rasool e Kareem ﷺ.*

*The question is that can A True Muslim disregard A Sahabi who is praised by The Prophet of Allah ﷺ ?*

*And The One who was accepted as Ameer by Syyiduna Imam Hasan Al Mujtaba رضي الله عنه?*

*Those who claim to love the Ahlul Bayth should ponder on the action of The Imam of Ahlul Bayth.*

I am not familiar with the book you mentioned but the narration is a valid and famous one. It is in At Tamheed by Sulami as well.

It is known by consensus that Hadhrat Ali was on Haqq.

    Salam !

It is stated in many works of Ḥanafī Imams such as kitab al-`itiqād of al-Nisāburi (d. 432), Badr al-Dīn al-`Aynī, al-Kurdarī and others. Here it is quoted from one of the most authoritative ḥanafī biographical work manāqib al-Imām al-`Aẓam by Imam al-Muaffaq al-Dīn al-Makkī al-Khwārzmī al-Ḥanafī (d. 568):--------Imam Abū Ḥanīfah asked his people, do you know why the Shaamīs hate us? we said: no! He replied: because if we were during the times of Ali ibn Abi Ṭalib raḍi Allah `anhu and Muawiya, we would have fought on the side of Ali! And he said: do you know why ahl al-ḥadīth hate us? We said: No! He replied: because we love the ahl al-bayt and acknowledge their excellence

Many tafzilis are sharing it what is its reality?

A brother sent me this video where dr adnan ibraheem attempts to criticise ameer muawiyah radiyAllahuAnhu
i did make brief notes while watching as a response to the brother who sent me because how could i not even attempt to try and defend ameer muawiyah radiyallahuanhu but obviously as my knowledge is very limited i was not able to write a refutation.
As there are learned brothers on this forum namely Abu Hassan i was hoping they could watch it and write a response.
These are my notes and response to the brother below, excuse the spelling and grammar mistakes i was typing while watching

    1. He said he has never narrated from ameer mua'wiyah but that doesn't
mean anything, there are over 124,000ish other sahaba aswell doesn't
mean that there are narrations for every single one of them.
    2. He said they don't love ameer mu'āwiyah but he hasn't proved where
    they have explicitly said that.
    3. He says the used to criticise ameer mu'āwiyah and his household.
Okay we agree that they wer wrong to go against mawla Ali but this was
their ijtihaadi difference of understanding and also we must remember
yazeed was from their household and I don't care for anyone
criticising yazeed he is no one to me.
    4. Also he says they criticise ameer mu'āwiyah and his group, that
doesn't mean they are out of the folds of Islam, they wer considered
as rebels but as I have said before quoting bahaare shariat we don't
call them rebels anymore due to the meaning changing
    5. He also says radiyAllahuanhum ajmaeen "he respect them all. But
they criticise this one and that one." Keep this in mind !!
    6. He said that "mu'āwiyah died as a non-muslim" and this is a quote
of a man not of a prophet so he will be crtisisicyed for what he has
said, he should he brought forth more proofs and I again tell you
point 104 of aqeedah of Imam tahawi he write "hating them is blasphemy
and hypocrisy and injustice" and if he did die without Islam why are
his narrations in the book of Hadith.
    7. Here someone asks the virtues of ameer mu'āwiyah and Imam Nasaii
and the man says "meaning since there is nothing good to say about
him, then just keep quite about it" - this is exactly what this man
should have done instead of habitually going into books to try and
    criticise ameer mu'āwiyah.
8 and what the nawāsib did if it is true then it was wrong for them to
do it. We love mawla Ali radiyAllahuanhu
9.we only honour ameer mu'āwiyah because he is a sahabi and people
attack him like it's a joke today. The Prophet sallalaahualayhiwasalam
tells us in a Hadith that we must speak out when his companions are
    being attacked
    10. I don't understand what he's saying about the names etc.
    11. Yes 100s criticised him but he is a sahabi and they may have done
so out of love for mawla Ali radiyAllahuanhu but ameer mu'āwiyah was
still a sahabi non will deny this.
    12. And we see from the people he is narrating from he says they had
traces of shiaism in them and great love for mawla Ali and for this
reason they have been harsh of ameer mu'āwiyah radiyAllahuanhuma
    13. He says that he would not let anyone in his house whose name was
mu'āwiyah and maybe again this was due to his extreme love of mawla
    ali
    14. He says that I have presented to you from the shuyuk of Bukhari
but when we open Bukhari we see narrations of ameer mu'āwiyah, and
many people report that the Messenger of Allah sallalaahualayhiwasalam
told Imam Bukhari where to put the Hadith and under which baab etc.
Why did the Messenger sallalaahualayhiwasalam not tell Imam Bukhari to
    not include ameer mu'āwiyahs narrations?
These are notes by a weak student of Knowledge trying to defend ameer
mu'āwiyah. I shall forward this video to my teachers and also ask them to
respond with the positions of the ahlus Sunnah.

This is the most detailed and comprehensive lecture I've listened to on the status of sayyiduna Ameer Muawiyah radiyAllahu anhu. Mufti Ashraf asif jalali begins with the aqida of the ahle sunnat that we honour both sahaba and able bayt and then moves on to Ameer Muawiyah radiyAllahu anhu at around the 40min mark.

Worth a listen. Well referenced and detailed lecture.

thanks. so what is your point?

btw, it is agreed that abu sufyan raDiyallahu anhu became a muslim after fat'H. it is also well-known that sayyidah umm Habibah raDiyallahu anha was in the nikah of RasulAllah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam before fat'H (that is before her father's islam).

nawaz, i think we should begin following noori's approach on the forum. you should not raise another issue until you have resolved this new thing you have raked. because you guys have absolutely no shame - you will just walk away as if nothing happened.

    ---
now, this hadith you have cited below:

    1. can you please give the reference of this hadith?
    2. is this translation your own, or did you copy it from somewhere?

you are free to ask me those questions - as such, most of the time, they are my own translations. and if there is any specific post you wish to enquire, feel free to ask.

Ibn Abbas reported that the Muslims neither looked to Abu Sufyan (with respect) nor did they sit in his company. he (Abu Sufyan) said to Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) : Allah's Apostle, confer upon me three things. He replied in the affirmative. He (further) said: I have with me the most handsome and the best (woman) Umm Habiba, daughter of Abu Sufyan; marry her, whereupon he said: Yes. And he again said: Accept Mu'awiya to serve as your scribe. He said: Yes. He again said: Make me the commander (of the Muslim army) so that I should fight against the unbelievers as I fought against the Muslims. He said: Yes. Abu Zumnail said: If he had not asked for these three things from Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him), he would have never conferred them upon him, for it was (his habit) to accede to everybody's (earnest) request.
    -------------

In the above report where it says that after abu sufyan became a muslim after fath Makkah and requested three things from the Prophet(saww). All three things are part of the same report and by the same person ikrima ibn ammar. The very first thing requested is that the Noble Prophet(saww) marry Umm al-muminin Umm Habibah, the daughter of abu sufyan.
this is absolutely incorrect because by consensus it is agreed that hazrat umm Habibah married the Prophet(saww) long before Fath e Makkah whilst abu sufyan was still a kafir. this makes the entire hadith unreliable and against an established historical and biographical fact in the life of the Prophet(saww). Hence the entire report is rejected.

amongst those who said that Hazrat umm Habibah was married to the Noble Messneger(saww) whilst Abu Sufyan had not become a muslim prior to fath e makkah is Imam Shafi`(d. 204). In his kitab al-umm whilst writing whether a Kafir can be a guardian of muslim woman in marriage. Imam al-Shafi states that:

ولا يكون الكافر وليا لمسلمة وإن كانت بنته قد زوج ابن سعيد بن العاص النبي أم حبيبة بنت أبي سفيان وابو سفيان حي لأنها كانت مسلمة وابن سعيد مسلم

a non-muslim cannot be a wali of a muslim woman. Ibn Sa'eed married Umm Habiba d/o abu sufyan to the Prophet(s) whilst abu sufyan was alive and she was a muslim and ibn sa'eed was also a muslim.

Sorry brother, just didn't quite get it. My sincere apologies.

  19. Yes you are right, JazakAllah Khair for your guidance- I should reflect on myself.
I apologise if you took it as sarcasm towards you. I should have put it in a clearer way. I wanted to indicate the strength of the Narration in light of who records it- namely Ibn Hajar Haythami. There is Ijma on his mastery of every Science including Hadith.

Didn't quite get your response brother, but sounded like some sarcastic comment directed towards me. I am no scholar of the deen just like most others on this forum, and if quoting hadith texts is some kind of problem to you then its best to reflect inwards and refrain from doing so yourself (like here http://sunniport.com/index.php?thre...-hazrat-english-translation.13057/#post-57623 and here http://sunniport.com/index.php?threads/hisham-kabbani.13085/#post-57658).

    Jazakallah
