AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

this is the first question you should have asked, and then sought to analyse the mechanics of the karamah. :)

Many times in speeches by Subcontinental Sunnis I have always heard the claim that Hazrat Moinuddin Chishti :ra: -- no doubt a great saint -- converted 90 lacs of Hindus to Islam by himself. Now Khwaja Sahib died in 1230 CE and although not precise the best estimates suggest that the entire population of the Indian subcontinent at that time (i.e. today's Pakistan, Indian, Bangladesh)
was no more than 100 million maximum and more likely between 50 and 100 million people.

If we take the upper figure of 100 million then 90 lacs, which is 9 million people would be 9% of the entire population. How many Muslims were in India at that time already before Khwaja Sahib (who lived during the Delhi Sultanate)? Is it reasonable to assume that he alone converted a minimum 9% of the entire Indian population to Islam by himself? If we assume that there were some Muslims in India before he arrived in India from Sanjar in Iran then the number of Muslims in India becomes even greater...

Its not impossible but highly unlikely going by the analysis of it. On a related issue what exactly is the source of this karamat?
