trivia This one's for trivia lovers. Inquilab Zindabad (probably the most used and abused slogan in Indian politics) was first coined by none other than Hasrat Mohani. This slogan was coined during a 1919 bidi (traditional Indian cigarette) factory strike in Lucknow (unlike what wiki would have you believe). Even though Inquilab Zindabad has probably launched almost every movement/revolution/strike in 20th century India, most Indians shockingly credit one Bhagat Singh with origin of this slogan.
for me, this is a perfect summing up of the incident with sayyidina 'umar radiyAllahu ta'ala anhu which i have read in ash-shifa. 'umar radiyAllahu ta'ala anhu said: ya rasulAllah sallAllahu 'alaihi wasallam, i love you more than anything apart from myself. the prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wasallam said you must love me more than your own self. 'umar radiyAllahu ta'ala anhu said i love you more than my own self. the dear prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wasallam said, now you have it. some scholars have written that the dear prophet sallAllahu 'alaihi wasallam granted 'umar radiyAllahu ta'ala anhu that love at that moment. hence: khayāl e ghayr ko dil sey miTā do yā RasūlAllāh --- 'allama abdul hakeem sharf qadri writes about the prophet's sallAllahu 'alahi wasallam tasarruf and ikhtiyar and takween: Ibn Hisham narrates that: “Whilst performing tawaf (circumambulation) during the year of conquest of Makka, Fudala bin ‘Umair Laithi intended to martyr Rasulullah sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam (he was a recent convert and he had not yet achieved full spiritual purity). When Rasulullah sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam came near him he asked, “Are you Fudala?” Fudala replied in the affirmative. Rasulullah sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam then asked, “What were you thinking in your heart?” “Nothing”, he replied, “I was only doing the remembrance of Allah”. Rasulullah sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam smiled and said, “Continue with this remembrance” and then placed his blessed hand on Fudala’s chest. His heart immediately received peace. Fudala radiyallahu ta'ala 'anhu used to say, “By Allah! Even before Rasulullah sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam had lifted his hand off my chest, there was nothing in the whole of creation that was dearer to me than Rasulullah sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam [read the full article here called 'The miracles of RasulAllah sallAllahu 'alaihi wasallam'].

attributed to hasrat mohani (sayyid fazlul hasan): khayāl e ghayr ko dil sey miTā do yā RasūlAllāh khirad ko apna dīwānā banā do yā RasūlAllāh --- and alahazrat said earlier: le khabar jald key ghayroN ki Taraf dhyān gayā merey aaqā merey mawlā terey qurbān gayā
