Shaykh Abdul Haq Delvi - may Allah Almighty have mercy upon him - wrote an introductory book on tasawwuf entitled TAHSEELUT TA'ARRUF FI MA'RIFATIL FIQH WAT TASAWWUF in which he comments on Hafiz Ibn e Jauzi's criticism of tasawwuf and he opines that Hafiz Ibn e Jauzi behaved awkwardly on this matter and was not fair in his critique and although he(Hafiz Ibn e Jauzi) was apologetic Shaykh Abdul Haq Delvi - may Allah Almighty have mercy upon him - highlights that the reason he(Hafiz Ibn e Jauzi) himself gives is to maintain the integretity of Shariah from innovations. There is more to this discussion please refer to page 106 onwards [ http://books.nafseislam.com/details.php?book_id=2602&book=taaruf-fiqh-o-tasawwuff ] . Despite aforementioned Shaykh Abdul Haq Delvi - may Allah Almighty have mercy upon him - says in Hafiz Ibn e Jauzi's book Talbis e iblis ( The Devils Deception ) he himself is a victim of his own TALBIS!

A Question regarding Hafiz Ibn e Jauzi and Tasawwuf

I read an english translation of his book Talbis e iblis ( The Devils Deception ). i downloaded it from a salafi website so most probably the translator is a salafi . in that book the auther seems to just lambast and deride the very concept of tasawwuf and many prominent sufis whom the ahlussunnah hold in great esteem like Abu Talib Al Makki , Abu Nasr Siraaj , Abul Qasim Al Qushairi , Abu Baqar Al Shibli , Bayazid Bustami and even Imam Ghazali

I wanted to know how far Imam Jauzis thoughts are endorsed by the ulama e ahlussunnah .whether any scholar has commented on his opinions on tasawwuf. How far we can rely on his opinions ?
