Ishwar in the Hindu religion refers to "god" or deity. But since Hinduism is a polytheistic religion they also use the it as a suffix and attach it to the adjective, to describe the thousands of gods / deities they worship.

The word Ishwar is also shortened when attached to other words to make easy to pronounce - such as Rajesh, Ritesh, Rajneesh (the syllable "esh" is actually for Ishwar. The word "Inder" is also used in a similar manner. And for the "highest" god, they say "parameshwar" (which is actually param + ishwar).

Apart from this, the aqeedah of the Hindus regarding "ïshwar" cannot be the same as that held by Muslims regarding Allah.

Our Ulema have therefore ruled that it is forbidden to equate this word with the word "Allah".
