Rah ga'i rasme azaa.n roohe bilali na rahi
Falsafa rah gaya talqeene ghazali na rahi

Zabaa.n se kah bhi diya la ilah to kya haasil
    Dil o nigaah musalma.n nahi.n to kuch bhi nahi.n

Woh mu'azzaz the zamaane mei.n musalma.n ho kar
Ham khaak huwe taarik e qur'a.n ho kar (Iqbal)

mohabbat ka junuu.N baaqii nahii.n hai
    musalamaano.n me.n Khuun baaqii nahii.n hai

The madness of love is no more
Blood, the Muslims have no more!

safe.n kaj, dil pareshan, sajdaa bezuuk
    ke jazabaa-e-a.ndruun baaqii nahii.n hai

Crooked rows, heavy hearts, pleasureless prostrations
For the internal passion is no more

    rago.n me.n lahuu baaqii nahii.n hai
wo dil, wo aawaaz baaqii nahii.n hai

Blood no longer flows in your veins
That heart, that voice (of yore) is no more

    namaaz-o-rozaa-o-qurbaanii-o-haj
ye sab baaqii hai tuu baaqii nahii.n hai

    Prayer, fasting, charity, Hajj
These all remain; you are no more!
