    no flower will be existent nor will any garden remain
    but the beautiful religion of Rasul Allah [peace be upon him] will forever remain

    my companions! Is there any warble left audible in the garden?
    The nightingale will fly away ; only a silent garden will remain.

    Do not pride yourself upon your expensive robes;
    on your lifeless body, a dirty shroud is all that will remain.

    The names of the worldly kings will be erased, yet;
    till the day of resurrection, the name and the mark of the 5 blessed ones [Panjtan] will remain

    he who will send salutations upon the master of law-laak
    from the fire; his body will be protected and like this it will remain

    everything will be annihilated o' Kafi; but until resurrection;
    the words of praise for our Master [peace be upon him] shall forever remain!

    Mawlana Sayyid Kifayat Ali Kafi Muradabadi [passed away1858] was an accomplished scholar, experienced Tabib [physician] and a great poet.

    His proficiency in writing poetry is shown by the statement of alaHazrat who says that - "I only listen to the poetry of 2 people - My brother Mawlana Hasan or Allamah Kifayatullah Kafi." Furthermore alaHazrat says:

    “The world smells sweet because of the fragrance of my mouth.
    Here, the sweet songs do not mingle with the bitter ones.
    Kafi is the sultan of the Naatiya Poets
    Allah Willing; I will be the prime-minister”

    Maulana Kafi learnt Hadith from Shaykh abu Saeed Mujaddidi Rampuri [passed away 1835] and learnt poetry from the famous poet, Zaki Muradabadi [passed away 1864) who was the disciple of Imam Bakhsh Nasikh. He performed Hajj and Ziyarat and wrote “Tazammul-e-Darbar-e- Rahmat” as a honouring.
    He has written several books: Tarjumah-e-shamail-e-Trimizi [poetry] Majmua-e-Chahal Hadith [poetry] with explanatory notes, Khayaban-e- Firdaus, Bahar-e-Khuld, Naseem-e-Jannat, Maulood-e-Bahar, Jazbah-e-Ishq, Diwan-e-Ishq all of which pay tribute to Naat Shayri and express love for the Holy Prophet [peace be upon him]

    He issued a ruling in Moradabad, justifying jihad against the English, copies of which were sent to various other places. He himself went to Aonla, publicised his fatwa and persuaded and inspired the people for jihad. Then, he reached Bareilly, consulted Khan Bahadur Khan, the grandson of Hafiz Rahmat Khan Ruhella and returned to Muradabad. When a government was formed at Muradabad under the leadership of Nawab Majduddin Khan, alias Majju Khan, Maulana Kafi was appointed as the Sadr Amin. According to the District Gazette, Muradabad, the Muslims, driven by their religious zeal and enthusiasm, revolt against the English in the whole district.

    At the same time, Yusuf Ali Khan, the Nawab was in the forefront of supporting, sympathizing and showing loyalty to the English. He attacked upon Muradabad but when General Bakht Khan, with his army reached Moradabad, the Nawab’s army fled away. However, the Nawab, assisted by the English, gained control over Moradabad again. The English subjected Nawab Majju Khan to severe and cruel behaviour and killed him [martyred him].
    Maulana Kafi, through his letters, kept General Bakht Khan aware and well informed of the developments at Muradabad. When the English regained their control over Moradabad on 21st April, 1858, Maulana escaped But, due to the betrayal of a spy, he was arrested on 30th April. At that time, the English had formed a commission which settled the cases after a brief and hurried trial. The case of the Maulana was referred to the cruel and callous English magistrate who very soon pronounced his judgment.

    Mr. John Engleson , the Magistrate in Muradabad Commission announced his judgment saying that since the accused defendant has revolted against the English government provoked the masses against a legal constitutional government and plundered the city, this act of the accused is an open mutiny against the English government and as a penalty for this, he deserves severe punishment. It was ordered that he should be hanged to death.”

    All the proceedings of the case were completed within two days. The case was filed on 4th May, the judgment announced on 6th May, and he was hanged on the same day. At the timed of being hanged he was reciting Naat Shareef.

    کوئی گل باقی رھے گا، نے چمن رہ جائے گا
    پر رسول اللہ کا دین حسن رہ جائے گا

    ھم صفیرو باغ میں ھے کوئی دم کا چہچہا
    بلبلیں اڑ جائیں گی سونا چمن رہ جائے گا

    اطلس و کمخواب کی پوشاک پر نازاں نہ ہو تم
    اس تنِ بے جان پر خاکی کفن رہ جائے گا

    نامِ شاہانِ جہاں مٹ جائیں گے لیکن یہاں
    حشر تک نام و نشانِ پنجتن رہ جائے گا

    جو پڑھے گا صاحبِ لولاک کے اوپر درود
    آگ سے محفوظ اس کا تن بدن رہ جائے گا

    سب فنا ہو جائیں گے کافی ،ولیکن حشر تک
    نعت حضرت کا زبانوں پرسخن رہ جائے گا
