For sure, you can't expect people without any ability (such as me) to do something useful. Can a donkey do what's horse's forte? Unfortunately, most of such work (whether propagation, publication, refutation etc.) needs knowledge. While wealth may be gained fortuitously and instantaneously (by means of miracle, inheritance or act of crookedness), knowledge doesn't come that easily and miraculously.

If there's something much simpler (commensurate with my ability and resources) for me to contribute, then I would definitely be remiss in my duty if I don't do my part.

  2. Good point aqdas but the important word was IF. The state pays soldiers so that if there is war they can defend the country. Would it be fair to ask the common person and civilians to fight instead? If the awaam are to do the scholars' work then what's the point of ulama? To eat langar and take nazraana from the public?!
As abu fadl said on another thread the greater the personality the greater the expectation. Yes we should help Sunni causes in any way we are capable of.

there have been a few rants recently about sunni inactivity amongst our scholars etc.

to those complaining, it shows you care, but try to follow mawlana misbahi's advice. if it's something you yourself can fix, what are you waiting for?

this is great advice for ahlus sunnah. we can't wait for others to do work. if we are capable of doing something properly, then we should do it ourselves.[/quote]

a man came to muhaqqiq e 'asr, mawlana muhammad ahmad misbahi, principal of al-jamiatul ashrafia, mubarakpur, and said: it would be great if someone could undertake the following project but there is no-one willing.

mawlana replied: don't wait for anyone else; you do it.
