a dirty tramp who is very thirsty who comes to a stream of clear and fresh water; wades in and sits right inside it and observes that the water is all dirty around him and refuses to drink as it is all muddy. if you tell him that it is his own person dirtying it and the proof is the clear water coming from above, he refuses to look. what about here? he asks.

should we laugh at his stupidity? or be annoyed at his dirtying the peaceful stream? or just ignore him because no matter what, the whole stream will never be dirty even if the tramp dies and rots there. fresh water will eventually wash the filth away...

i hope some delicate compositions will not be disturbed if i post a translation of qaDi iyaD's shifa.

  3. btw and i'm not flogging a dead horse here but has anyone else noticed the recent spate of posts about hazrat ameer muawiya :ra: on YN.com? Some of the mods there tend to have real issues about this great Sahabi. Some ignoranus called Objective Enquirer is especially odious.

Once I remember a Sunni brother posted an advert for an event about the fazail of Hazrat Abu Sufyan and Hazrat Amir Muawiya and the mods went into a frenzy making comments such as 'we hope you enjoy listening to the fazails of abu sufyan and hazrat muawiyyah! '

    yet they are 'sunnis'.
we live in strange times i tell you.

  4. this is also another salafidi trait on yanaafi: Hadith X is in Bukhari or Muslim (e.g.). WE think this hadith is against the dignity of the Prophet/Ahlul Bayt/Sahabi. Therefore we don't accept this hadith.

also, if you have jaa al-haq by mufti ahmad yaar khan; there is a very short discussion in the chapter of ilm e ghayb and objections to it.

you don't have to be worried if you find a problematic hadith.

problematic hadith means that hadith which externally appears to contradict established principles. such hadith have been explained in detail by earlier ulama and it would be difficult to translate many such things.

among the most beautiful and convincing explanations of this hadith i have seen, is in shifa of qaDi iyaD.

    Allah ta'ala knows best.

Can someone provide an explain for the following hadith?
I am having a hard time understanding it and I find it being used by followers of a certain movement a lot lately.
