i think they dont know what The Study Quran is about. Zaytuna and Hossein Nasr are capitalizing on the common ignorance of Muslims and non-Muslims. Most have not bothered to make the effort to know and thus support Hamza Yusuf on trust or on the credibility that he, supposedly, has developed over the past couple of years, especially with numerous speakers/personalities ( the RIS and Nuh Keller crowd ) openly supporting him or remaining silent like faraz rabbani

Hamza Yusuf ought to be publicly refuted in this case like he was in the Bleak House for Dante for which he has not done tawbah. Then people will begin to give an ear and eventually most will come to know and might take a heed.

his work here has a foreword by keller, and the author intro says that he has been given the authority to issue fatawa by ali gomaa of egypt (someone who is with the perennialists and the common word team)

but nonetheless, his opposition to nasr's work is pleasing

dunno if he is aware of keller's and ali gomaa's heresies!
