    This was/is definitely part of the Urf in Muslim communities of the subcontinent to not place the name of the bride on the wedding invitation. Traditionally, young unmarried girls would be kept in pardah and so their name being kept in pardah also would make sense. It seems some families still continue this Urf of not mentioning her name despite the fact she does not even fulfil basic requirements of covering her satr.


    Could I ask where you read this? It would be interesting to read.

    Notice, they haven't even named the bride. And I did read that a man shouldn't say his wife's name in front of other men.
