Ibn Asakir narrates from Abu Hurairah: On the day of Badr the angels said amongst themselves, ‘Behold! Siddiq al-Akbar is with Allah’s Messenger (Blessings and Salutations be upon him)…’ ref:Imam Jalaluddin Al-Suyuti - Tarikh al-khulafa

The Beloved Messenger of Allah sallAllahu alayhi wasallam said:
No wealth has benefited me much like the wealth of Abu Bakr.
Hearing this Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq Radi Allah Anhu cried and said:
No one owns my life or my wealth except you O Messenger of Allah!
Narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad, through a Sahih chain, from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah
and the best in his ummah will be Abu Bakr
The Prophet, peace and salutations be upon him and his pure family, said, “Allah [the Exalted and the Glorified] created the throne and then He wrote with an illuminated pen, the span which is between the east and the west, “There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God. It is because of him [the Prophet - peace and salutations be upon him and his pure family] that I will take and it because of him that I will give and the best in his ummah will be Abu Bakr”, Rafi’i narrates this from Salman, may Allah be pleased with them.

This verse is a translation of this hadith:
Abu Bakr and ‘Umar (radi Allahu Ta’ala ‘anhumaa) are more virtuous then those that came before and those that are to come, and better than all inhabitants of the heavens and the inhabitants of the earth, with the exception of the Prophets and the Messengers (‘alaihim al salaam). O 'Ali (radi Allahu Ta'ala anhu) do not inform them (Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna 'Umar radi Allahu 'anhumaa).
