Professor Dr. Farmaan Fatehpuri (Karachi University) "Out of the Ulama, the biggest name in eulogising is that of Maulana Ahmad Raza Khan Barelvi. Maulana Ahmad Raza Khan was born in 1856 and passed away in 1921. Therefore, he was a contemporary of Maulana Haali, Maulana Shibli, Ameer Menai and Akbar Ilahabadi. The basis of his poetry is the life of the Prophet (saw). The Honourable Maulana was a person of Sharia'h (Islamic law) and also one of Tariqa'h (Islamic mysticism). He only sang the praises of the Prophet (saw) and of the Holy Saints but he sang them with utmost beauty and love. His eulogies and salutations (Salaam) are widely read and heard in many gatherings. Maulana Ahmad Raza Khan Barelvi's compilation of eulogies 'Hadaiq-e-Bakhshish' has been published many times."
imâm qâDi `iyâd mâlikî in kitâb ash-shifâ bi t`arîfi Huqûqi’l muSTafâ: (vol.1, chapter-1, article-8) "some scholars of kalâm have said in the tafsîr of kâf hâ yâ `ayn Sâd [maryam, v.1] thus: 1. kâf means kifâyah / sufficing; which means, Allâh `azza wa jall is sufficient for His beloved Prophet `alayhis salaam. says Allah : " a lays’Allâhu bi kâfin `abdah?" [az-zumar 39:36] isn't Allâh sufficient (a helper, protector) for his slave? 2. hâ means hidâyah / guidance; says Allâh : "wa yahdiyaka Sirâtan mustaqîma(n)" [al-fat'H 48:2] and Allâh shall guide thee on the right path. 3. yaa means ta`yîd / aid; says Allâh : "wa ayyadaka bi naSrihi" [al-anfâl 8:62] and Allâh has aided thee with His Help. 4. `ayn means `ismah / protection; says Allâh : "wallâhu y`aSimuka mina’n nâs" [al-mâ'idah 5:67] and Allâh shall protect thee from (the harm of) men. 5. Sâd mean Salawât / benediction, salutations on the Rasûl; says Allâh : "inn’Allâha wa malâyikatahû yuSallûna `alâ’n nabiyy" [al-aHzâb 33:56] verily Allâh sends blessings and His Angels send salutations on the Prophet. ************* imâm riDâ says: kâf geysu; hâ dahan yâ abru ânkheN `ayn Sâd kâf hâ yâ `ayn Sâd un kâ hai chahrâ nûr kâ kâf resembles his fore locks; hâ is his blessed mouth; yâ are the brows and `ayn Sâd are his eyes (both letter are of the shape of an eye; in fact `ayn also means the eye) kâf hâ yâ `ayn Sâd is (as one tafseer) the description of his blessed radiant face; sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam.
