    The Believer's Intuition

Once, a Christian in Yemen heard this Sahih Hadith Sharif,

اتقوا فراسة المؤمن؛ فإنه ينظر بنور الله
Beware of the perception of a true believer, for indeed he sees with the Noor of Allah._ [Tirmidhi, Vol. 5, Page 88, Hadith 3127]

He decided to test a Muslim whether this saying and the religion was true or not. The Christians of this region used to wear a cross around their necks as a symbol of Christianity. He hid the cross inside to disguise himself by wearing the Muslim garb, with a turban on his head. He then set out to the gathering of various Awliya questioning them about the meaning of this Hadith Shareef. The Awliya explained him but he was not satisfied. He then went to the Majlis of Sayyiduna Shaykh Junaid al-Baghdadi (Radi Allahu Anhu) and asked the same question. The great Shaykh replied,

“This Hadith Sharif means that you break the hidden cross, abandon the religion of Christianity and embrace Islam.”

He was so astonished and moved by the answer that he immediately read the Shahadah and embraced Islam. He then asked, “O Sayyidi! I visited so many Mashaikh and Awliya but none of them recognised me?”

    The Shaykh answered,

“All of them recognised but your Iman was destined in my hands."[Tazkirat al-Awliya, Vol. 2, Page 10]
