    Fatawa Ridawiyyah

Is anyone aware of the Fatawa (entire compendium) being translated into English (and by whom)?.

it is a beautiful preface indeed, but there are precedents. imam ibn abidin shami wrote a similar preface [but not such an extensive or complex one] in his radd al-muHtar and if i remember correctly al-Haskafi wrote such in his sharH of multaqa al-ab'Hur.

as for the preface in hadith, i do not know if anyone has written such a gorgeous one - a translation like most of alaHazrat's works will not do any justice to the beauty of the orginal. yet, it is too tempting.

    wa billahi't tawfiq.

    wonderful

    assalamu alaykum.

That preface is wonderful and, though I knowest not Arabic, the translation is also very fluent and attractive. This is enough to show the Imam's facility with the Arabic tongue.

    Subhan Allah! :)

Jazakallah Khair Sidi for this post - I was thinking of copying this over from the older forum and then saw your post.

Subhan Allah - Just this preface is telling enough to prove the peerlessness of the pen of Imam Rida - may allah grant him the best of stations amongst the siddiqeen.

    simply awesome !

    translation:
In the name of Allâh the Most Beneficient, the Merciful.

We praise Him and send Salawat on His Honored Messenger SallAllâhu `alayhi wa sallam.

We praise Allâh and this is the greatest knowledge (that only Allâh is worthy of praise). And this (the praise) is the greatest collection of His abûndant favors, His spread out bounties; a collection of lustrous pearls.

Guidance is only from Allâh. The beginning is from Him and towards Him is the end. It is His praise that grants preservation; and keeps the intellect pure, clean from corruption. Which earns us the safeguard of the Knower. And the beatitude of sufficient protection (from Allâh).

Salawat and Salam on him, the greatest leader of all the messengers; my Master; my intercessor; the most praiseworthy among the honored ones (messengers). Beauty says without deliberation: MuHammad (SallAllâhu `alayhi wa sallam ) the beautiful, in beauty is the father of Yusuf (`alayhis salâm). Because he is the originally bestowed one, of all the qualities exquisite; of all things big, small and intermediate. (that is every noble quality - the best, better and good - is found in him)

Overflowing of rivers (of magnificence) and the choicest of pearls (of excellence); the treasure of secrets, the illuminator of eyes – he who brings back the perplexed to the blessings of the Most-Forgiving One (al-Ghaffâr); the gift of the Most Powerful (Qadeer); and the sustenance of the poor, the weak.

The sea of admirable traits, the ocean in which are poured all the seas of noble character. The treasure of subtleties; and the manifestation of realities. The lucid sea (of knowledge, of nobility) – every rising stream seeks his help.

Hopes rest with him (his intercession); and because of him we find independence from others. The stairway to success; the aid from the Opener of the doors of grace (al-FattâH). The illumination for correction (emendment). And that radiance which lights up this illumination. The revealer of hidden treasures; the reliever of troubles. The chosen pearl, the spring of (fulfilling) wishes. The sparkle of insight and sagacity; the best of shining jewels, rarest and immaculate. It is impossible to find an example or his likeness. He makes rich the beggar, he is the asset of the destitute. The one with lofty qualities of both human and superhuman (angels); sufficient for all needs; the complete, the perfect (human). The medicine for sickness; the pure, the Chosen one (muSTafa), the purifying one, the most favored one, the cleansing one, the chaste.

The provision of the generous; the most beneficial among the means to attain Allâh's infinite grace (wasilah); and to fulfill limitless needs. The best of the successors and the essence of ancestors.

Salwat and salams be also on his progeny and his companions; his household and his company. The lamps illuminating the darkest nights (of ignorance); the keys to guidance. Especially (but not limited to) the two shaykhs – abû Bakr and `Umar. The two closest companions, they who encompass the shores of both seas of Shari`ah and Haqiqah. And the two honorable sons-in-law (`Uthman and `Ali); each of them is the light of sight; unions of oceans.

And salawat on the mujtahids of this blessed community; and the imâms of this nation. Particularly, the four pillars, the lightsome rays (of knowledge).

And salawat on his (grand)sons, especially the greatest helper (ghawth al-a`aDHam); the fortune of the awliya, the present of the fuqaha (scholars); the (joining) adorned link between the two divisions (or the two seasons) – the chapters of Haqiqah and that of shari`ah.

And also on us, for we are with them; for their sake; because of them.

Accept our prayers O the Most Merciful. Ameen. Ameen.

And all praise be to Allâh, the Sustainer of the universe.
