You will want to use Sony Vegas (Pro). Video & Audio editing all in one, looks complicated but you will get the hang of it in a day or two. Sony Movie Studio 13 is the lighter version of Vegas, I havent tried it but according to the specification it should fulfill basic requirements (Trimming, inserting Audio, uploading to YouTube etc.)
thanks for the input sidi. FF is good for file conversions and I use it often but we need something more powerful and more precise in terms of editing clips. In FF if you trim a file it's usually a few seconds off the mark. Moreover, the clipping is not interactive. You have to know the exact time range down to the seconds if you wish to crop a video file. The person who'll be using this is not savvy with computers so it will be very difficult for him to get things done. inshaAllah we'll be uploading high quality videos of duroos of our local scholars on youtube. From what I have seen I believe they'll be filling a huge gap even for people living in the west if they understand urdu. I think most of these are going to be real 'ilm lectures not superficial bayaans. jazakAllahu khayran.

Salam-e-Masnoon. Can anyone suggest a good video editing software with a simple uncluttered user interface which can be used by a novice? Required features: 1. Should be able to compress HD video recorded on professional cameras without any noticeable effect on quality. 2. Allow easy removal of unwanted snippets from the video. something like wavepad or audacity which are used to edit audio (need not be a freeware). brothers who keep uploading on youtube (@Muhammad Ali @ahlus-sunnah and others) please help. jazakAllahu khayran. wassalaam.
