    I totally agree with the above post by AH.

    I have also read that recitation of the Darud e Akbar is recommended. Also, reciting the Asma-e-Nabi Kareem, by reading Sayyadina before each Noble name and finish with Sallallahu alaihi wasallam. When read with profound contemplation and sincerity, one MAY be blessed with the Vision of Ya Rasulallah sallallahu alaihi wassalam in ones dreams, insha'allah.

    And Allah SWT Knows best and is the All-Hearing, Most Merciful.

    I have tried and tested the above.......but wait like many others for Allah's SWT Mercy to descend. However, the recitation has a profoundly soothing effect on the body and mind!

    i know of a very simple wazifah - recite the durud sharif a thousand times.
    only that and nothing more.

    but...

    there are a few conditions and this is the difficult part:
    1. fulfill all the farD, wajib and sunan without fail

    2. expiation [qaDa] of any farD or wajib worships that you have missed,

    3. abstain from all Harams and repent from Harams committed.

    4. strive hard to abstain from even those acts labeled makruhs

    5. one's income should be from halal sources and be as scruplous as possible in ensuring it to be halal

    6. and strive hard to eat only from halal sources and halal food

    7. hurt not your neighbor or your family or friends; be kind and merciful to others; forgive others and bear not hate even for the heretics: 'hate the sin, not the sinner.'

    8. be pleased with what Allah ta'ala has ordained [riDa bi'l qaDa] without questioning, without being sad. be thankful for His bounties [shukr] and be patient in affliction [Sabr]

    9. and strive hard to adopt the sunnah in every word and deed of yours.

    10. love everything that the Prophet sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam was fond of; and dislike that which he disliked. loving his progeny is also included in it.
    and then, hope from Allah ta'ala that you will be blessed with the vision:
    'this is a favor from your Lord Almighty; He Gives it to whom He Will.'

    ---
    and to fulfil a few conditions above, it is necessary to learn about his life, his sunnah, his morals by reading proper books of biography and taSawwuf like:
    * ghawth al-a'azam's: al-fat'H ar-rabbani
    * al-ghazali's kimya e sa'adat, minhaj al-`abidin, arbayin;
    * al-qazwini's abridged 77 branches of faith. [shu'ab al-iman]
    * al-tirmidhi's shamayil
    * al-dihlawi's madariju'n nubuwwah
    * qaDi `iyaD's kitab ash-shifa
    * an-nab'hani's hayat ar-rasul
    * imam bukhari's adab al-mufrad
    may Allah ta'ala grant us his vision here and in the hereafter.

    Ulama and awlia have mentioned many wazaif to see RasūlAllāh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam in dream, however they do mention that one should do these wazaif only with the intention to send salaat o salaam upon the beloved RasūlAllāh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam, and believe that he/she may be granted to see RasūlAllāh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam in his/her dream when RasūlAllāh şallAllāhu álayhi wa sallam would wish. Some ulama say it took years for them.

    Oh brother!! Tis a wish of us all!!

    Here is a dua which is beneficial and a start to prepare ourselves to see such an auspicious sight. Whether it helps us feeble, miserly, disgusting and pathetic people to even contemplate such a vision is alone known by Allah SWT. Could our filthy eyes withstand such beauty even in a dream?? Are we worthy of such a splendid vision??? Alas......

    Ya Allah......Nigahe karam!! Ya RabulAalameen, karam!

    A Du’a to Gain Noor and Part of the Holy Prophet's (salallahu alaihi wasallam) Practice:
    Oh Allah make my heart full of noor
    and make my grave full of noor
    and make noor in front of me
    and make noor behind me
    and make noor on my right
    and make noor on my left
    and make noor above me
    and make noor underneath me
    and make my hearing full of noor
    and make my sight full of noor
    and make my hair full of noor
    and make my body and skin full of noor
    and make my flesh full of noor
    and make my blood full of noor
    and make my bones full of noor
    Oh Allah enlarge and enhance the noor for me
    and bestow your noor upon me
    and make myself full of noor.

    Taken from Al Fuyudha’at-ul-Muhammadiyyah – Nisbathe Thahrath - p. 97
    by Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri.

    He gives the following references for this du’a

    Sahih ul- Bukhari, Hadith No. 5957

    Sahih ul-Muslim, Hadith No. 763
    Jami Thirmadhi, Chapter 5, Abwab ud Da’waat , Hadith no. 3419

    PS> I am not sure why ,but the Arabic writing is not showing up in the above text!! When I can sort it out, I shall attempt to re-send.
