'Sacred' aka Hafiz Aslam was the person posting on this forum not too long ago. He was saying why are people being inconsistent and was paranoid that other people are behind the psuedonyms on this forum.

'Sacred' was eventually too cowardly to meet any of the people he was 'exposing'. Eventually he was banned.

If what Harris has posted below is true, that Aslam associates with the likes of Zaheer Mahmood, then he must be asked why is embarassed to be photographed with fellow Sunni Muslims? He was placing a book in front of his face to avoid being photographed with Asrar. This photo is going around on 'whatsapp'. Apart from this he is boasting to some how he lambasted the former when he came to his house.

If Aslam condemns the killing of the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists, we must ask what is his position on those who placed a fatwa on Rushdie?

If Rushdie is killed tomorrow how will Aslam condemn it?

What is the clear distinction between the two scenarios ie Hebdo and Rushdie?

The same question is for all those who took the same position as Aslam.

i believe Shaykh Asrar Rashid is referring to the situation out of hand in some parts of the UK and about specific wrong behaviours by specific paranoid people from there. Here in North America, we know who is a Sulah Kulli based on their beliefs ultimately [ that match the philosophy of Dr Tahir, Shaykh Bin Bayya, Abdullah Hamid Ali, Suhaib Webb, Zaid Shakir, ISNA/ICNA, Hamza Yusuf, Habib Ali etc ]

    Meaning of Sulah Kulli:

    1) Hindus, Christians, Jews etc, can enter Jannah [ Dr Tahir ]
    2) Shiites, Wahabites, Deobandites are legal schools with legal differences and will enter jannah [ Dr Tahir ]
    3) Sunnis are not necessarily correct; they dont hold on to the truth exclusively [ Dr Tahir ]
    4) Some Sunni "Scholars" do find fault with the above, but still befriend deviants and non-Muslims; either they waterdown Islamic Rules or they compromise on them for their philosophy of "humanity" and "brotherhood" [ Habib Ali ]; they do not uphold the supremacy of Sunni Islam over all of those deviants; they do not give da'wa or publicly reprimand their beliefs; these necessary acts for this day and age are not of priority to them. i dont think they are scholars

PS: related to 4) above, some examples include: Islamic rules need reform like the diyyat of a woman, or apostasy [ Dr Tahir ]

Real men also have kunan [agnomens], many of the famous companions are renowned by their agnomens to the point that the layman does not even know their real names. Take Sayyiduna Abu Hurrayra [radi'āllahu] for instance, his real name was Abdur Rahman Ibn Sakhr, or Sayyiduna Abu Dhar al-Ghiffāri [radi'āllahu anh] whose real name was Jundub [even this is disputed amongst the Ulema - check Ibn Abd il Barr's 'al-istiyaāb']. Ample examples can be given.

I think Shaykh Asrar has been misquoted somewhat, in fact i'm positive because his brother's name is not Yasin and i am pretty sure @abu Hasan was mentioned in a positive light [why hasn't that been transcribed?] - that is if we're referring to the same speech [refuting HY].

    Allah Almighty knows best.

Well done Janab Asrar Rashid Sahib! Your sentiments reflect exactly what I have been feeling for a very long time regarding the Ahlusunnah community in the UK generally and sunniport especially.

Can we start at the top with Abu Hasan? Lead by example, Sidi?

Let's hope this Fiqh Council isn't another half-hearted venture, and that it actually comes to serve its purpose in the long run. Without sounding cynical, it's very easy for initiatives like this to become derailed if there is a lack of sincerity or if egos aren't willingly suppressed. Having said that, Allāh grant success to all those involved.

And just to finish up... I read this quote somewhere recently that not only is quite apt here, but also serves as a reminder to us all: "Don't excuse your pride, excise your pride."

Also, It is very pertinent to add, as far as I am aware, Shaykh Asrar (I am sure there are others too) is the one, who is looking to create this Fiqh Council. It is pertinent to mention them because they have often been linked with causing the issues of contention, evidenced by @Paradise Seeker comments about the audio that came out recently but we can see by their recent efforts, they are trying to bring more coordination, communication and unity. I sincerely hope that they are successful in these efforts and our young scholars can work together to create a better future for all of us.
The fiqh council is at a very embryonic stage at the moment, so I cannot say much about it at the moment and has only been mooted very recently. However, I imagine it will be a case of scholars meeting up periodically, probably every three months to discuss issues that are going on. For example, the issue with Shaykh Aslam could have been avoided, if the scholars had convened a meeting to agree on what response should be made to the Paris attacks. they could have given a joint statement, which would have provided adequate clarification.
I understand your comment about 'ego' wars but if this Figh council can get off the ground and is led with sincerity, then things could be better. It is not the answer to everything but it will be another step in the right direction and that will be crucial going forward. If we can invest our time tackling the major issues of the day, rather getting bogged down by infighting and peripheral issues, a major difference can be made.
Finally, if the council can get off the ground, then it will bring scholars onto one table and from there it will be easier for them to be one page too because a lot of the conflicts are arising from comments from supporters of a particular scholar, which is fueling mistrust and disunity and because there is no coordination and communication, the issues instead of getting resolved, get exacerbated. The council will be difficult to get off the ground and harder to maintain because of 'egos' but I think we all agree that it is badly needed and we all should look to back it and hope for its success. Ameen.
I am not sure where he is the Imam but at the event on Sunday, he was introduced as Imam Adil, so that is where I met him and that is how I am going to refer him as.

what's this fiqh council all about? sounds promising.

Unfortunately, there are 'ego' wars in Birmingham [like @IslamIsTheTruth said], whatever the case may be, it should be contained and dealt with in house, naming and shaming causes discord even after issues have been resolved. Good to hear progress is being made [alhumdulillah].

This whole situation sums up Birmingham.
Must be something in the water there.
The culture of 'keeping face on road' seems to have trickled over to masaajids and the circle of sheikhs and their students.
Egos have taken over, a evil companion indeed.

May Allah guide us all, keep us steadfast and give us sincerity in our actions.

Both aforementioned brother have made points that I agree with but we need to look forward on how we can improve things. The audio was unfortunate (the way it was put on the net did not help) but as @Paradise Seeker mentions, 'mediation attempts have been made.' and I am aware that continued attempts are being made to ensure that in future these issues do not arise. We also have a responsibility that on forums and on social media, we refrain from slandering and making baseless comments, as an aside to discussing genuine issues, which we have seen aptly on this thread. Scholars will always have difference of opinions but these should as @Hashim Aftab mentioned should be discussed and debated in house. As, I mentioned in my previous post, I am hopeful that certain changes are forthcoming like the possibility of a Fiqh Council be formed and we have already seen with the Sunni Conference in Bradford and will see at the Urs this weekend that Scholars are sharing platforms with Scholars that they normally would not do. In sha Allah, there will be more to come but as Imam Adil remarked to me, 'it is a good first step.'

It is for this reason that some of our up-and-coming, more impressionable youth lose respect for the likes of SA, because all they see is him being publicly criticised by another scholar, after which his 'card' becomes subconsciously marked. The dangers of this need no mention. In an age where we are desperate for unity amongst young Sunni 'ulama, this kind of thing puts a cat among the pigeons. And that too, a pretty big cat.

Needless to say, the above is only scratching the surface when it comes to highlighting the repercussions of this type of conduct.

At the very least, the 'ulama should strive to establish an interfacial unity for the sake of public sanctity. Any infighting should remain... well, in!

Allāh deliver us from such fitnah.

I don't think Shaykh Asrar helped with the audio in which he names Shaykh Yaseen, Aslam etc etc
We all love and respect Asrar, we know he is sincere and not afraid of anyone but did direct naming help the situation?
I know a few students of knowledge, including members from this forum were asking for Shaykh Asrar to speak up against Shaykh Yaseen and unfortunately he did so and went on name others too...

That was not a wise move from Shaykh Asrar... no need for this over little issues, so what if one of them was bad mouthing him to other brothers and refused to resolve issues... by going public by naming is burning bridges! (no matter how much mediation attempts have been made) it does not help sunnism... he should never have buckled under the pressure by some people asking him - most likely for their amusement a thing to talk and comment about with their mates

It may well be why shaykh Aslam is being defensive and cagey after all these guys are just normal people like all of us... i'm in no way trying to defend the brother but this climate of attacking in public is not going to help the sitaution
