But because he's Christian, the news is all about his mental illness.

An asylum-seeking, christian convert carries bombing in Liverpool. Church struggling to explain the motive (ordinarily, if he wasn't a convert then he would have been, by default, an Islamic terrorist who inexplicably and invariably shouts "Allahu Akbar" before setting off the explosive!).

Allahu wa rasooluhu A'alam the reason behind why so many youth from Jamia Mosque attend Jummah and other prayers at Khizra and Bilal, too lazy to go to Jamia as the others are closer? They all seem to be same since they all pray like Hanafis? But one thing is for sure, their parents dont pay much attention to where they go, or to the beliefs such places hold and teach, and are then surprised when being accused of Shirk and Bidah.

Whats that got to do with the redevelopment?

I live across the road from Bilal place and I can tell you that the redevelopment has had no impact on their numbers so where are these rumours coming from?

As for khizra which youth from Jamia Mosque are going Khizra because of the redevelopment?

The Maududi place must be Khizra mosque, to which a surprising number of "Sunnis" go to, that and Bilal Mosque, the Tablighi mosque up the road in Prestwich.

This kind of tongue in cheek writing (in reference to the original post) and distasteful satire is not the way of our elders. It's nothing short of foolish and irresponsible.

I had an inkling he was point fingers in that direction.

First I have heard about youth going to maududi places and the dos taking over, maybe he can provide some sort of evidence?

If anything I've never seen the youth working so hard as they are now for the mosque.

And tbh not sure what the issue is with the redevelopment or why it needs to be mentioned?

I don't dispute your point. I am not very familiar with situations in other European countries like Germany etc. (where I believe refugees are herded in small towns and specified locations away from where most Muslims live), so I can only talk within the limited context of UK.

It is open secret that the recent "deluge" of refugees includes several economic migrants. I loathe to generalise but I am inclined to believe that most economic migrants have left their countries in search of better material prospects and want to gain access by hook or by crook. Their desperation is likely to drive them to seek nothing but material gain. It may sound bit rich considering that I myself could be classified as an economic migrant (although I can facetiously claim I have not come here out of desperation). I may sound like a right-wing nutcase but I fail to empathise with an Afghan or Albanian/Kosovan refugee in "these times". Why should one migrate into a country where you are not welcomed or will be cast out sooner or later? Are conditions so desperate in Afghanistan, Albania etc. at this point that migration is the only available option to survive?

Where have the Syrian refugees vanished in UK? How many of these are there (180 or 4,000)? Do syrians make up most of the migrants? By all accounts UK is going to take no more than few thousands over next 5 years (not withstanding its moral grandstanding). As far as I can gather, resettlement of Syrian refugees is being done in a highly fragmented manner (most likely by sinister design) and they are being dispersed to areas which hardly have Muslim population or community that can provide support. As suspected, most refugees have been consigned to deprived local authorities in disproportionate number, while affluent swathes of the country are free of asylum seekers.

    ----

Excuses aside, I think the muslim community (whether pir led charity or a flagship organisation) needs to take a lead it creating awareness within the UK muslim population about the need to support the refugees. Such nodal body can pool resources, raise fund, provide support outreach, organise assimilation programs etc. Sadly this is wishful thinking. Yes, pirs and mosques have failed on that front (although I have little sympathy for those who are turning christians). Archbishops and popes have made symbolic gestures to house few refugees. What have we muslims done?

We muslims need to look no further than the model put in practice by our beloved Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi wasallam) who helped forge brotherly bonds and ties between Ansars and Muhajireens.

    ----

    An aside.

This year I thought it might be a good idea to distribute zakat to Syrian families in refuge/conflict (rather than send it to India/Pakistan for a change). I looked up the programs run by several Muslim charities to see which one of these could best utilise zakat/sadaqah. I failed to find a single charity with ground presence and active programs in Syria or even refugee camps in Turkey/Jordan etc. Most of the UK Islamic charities have limited and out-dated programs that I suspect don't even reach the needy. Some salafi-inclined charities I am not willing to entrust my money with. I understand that charities are unable to operate in war zones and seriously affected areas, but so-called sunni charities like Muslim Hands & SKT Welfare etc. have no relief operations to show for.

Can someone recommend a solution or advise on how I can contribute my zakat to the needy in Syria?

maybe not the shias, but it can't just be them who are migrating. There might be thousands of syrian sunnis in the crowd.

It would be really cruel if pirs and mosques who butter their breads in the name of sunniyat don't come forward to help them in such trying times (in case they haven't) - really, these circumstances ARE trying for imaan.

I understand that there are a lot of things to consider before opening doors of community centers to complete strangers. However, this is no time to let prudence get in the way of action.

    ------

I heard this attributed to some poor man once (I forget the first line): "jab pet khaali ho to imaan dagmagata hai".

seriously, who can refuse food, shelter and dignity when offered, in such distressing conditions as those of the penniless, identity-less and country-less sufferers, bombed out of their homes and shooed away by country after country, and many a time, the objects of such suspicion and contempt as deserved by none other than hardened criminals? would the faith or sect of their benefactors matter except to the ones most firm in faith? but then, of those utterly grounded in faith, very few in my estimation would make towards Europe.

and the hadith: "poverty is nigh that it leads to kufr".

    nas'alAllahu ta'ala a'afiyah!

What's new? Asylum seekers have long used one pretext or other to gain asylum. In case this comes as shock to you, this has been happening at even larger scale in Germany since last year. Earlier it was fashionable for few pakistani muslims to claim qadiani faith and allege persecution in hope of gaining asylum. Isn't it easier for these refugees to become a christian to be able to live on dole and benefits?

How can pirs and mosque prevent this?

It is no surprise that a large proportion of such baptism is being undergone by shias (a number of these being closet infidels and gays). It is a case of them jumping from frying pan into fire, so "fire-well" to them!

‘Others claim they have had the doors closed on them by mosques, who have turned them away in their hour of need, leaving them starving and homeless’

‘Morajabi expresses a bitterness towards UK mosques that is echoed by many of the refugees, who claim they were turned away and not offered any help in their hour of need’

Whilst a Soofi Masjid is sat on millions and the successor Soofi making big buks from the funeral business which runs from the Masjid, another charity ran by two Pirs are building a multi-million Masjid in rural Punjab that no one will go to a Mufakkir who has decided to knock his Masjid down after 25 years and spend over £3 million on rebuilding it whilst the youth of the area have gone to the Maududi place. Whilst promoting his Janasheen across the pond on missionary tours no wonder the deos have taken over there. Latest craze will be to follow Richard the Third and be buried in the Car Park so the coming generations can benefit from the Langar pot.

‘Smith argues that in an increasingly global society, the differences between denominations are breaking down'

'With the mass movement from across the world we have got people of faith coming into secular society and faith really matters to them,” Smith explains. “And they are not too bothered, as bothered as we may think, about how that faith is expressed’

Thanks to Geoffrey, Omar and the other idiots at the Common Word
