yeah Thats desi culture for you , It ain't right if it ain't bright! It ain't shimmering if it ain't flickering!

Most westerners get put off by these lights cause they seem like a tad dated and cheap. But desi's persian and arabs
don't mind and actually like them.

Personally I prefer the architectural marvels of the past, if you look at iran/ afghanistan/ khorasan and the masajid thier , and even india pakistan. They look great without any lighting and stickers.

Instead of having stickers, and lights placed on the walls, they should integrate them into the walls themselves. That would be nice.

Brother, is this wording permitted when talking about, the Nalayan alSharif?

"these extra colorful nalain sharif shapes pasted all around, some with flickering led's I mean respect is one thing but this strange paraphernalia driven sunni branding is strange and from an asthetic point of view, just bad."

.....not that i'm comparing "ugly stickers" to the Nalayn I Paak" or flags..just before someone says that...the Nalayn I Paak is our honour..just the way us sunnis go over the top.

...like having ugly stickers on the side of a brand new Mercedes....it's a Mercedes..it's great looking the way it is..it doesn't need improvement..in the masaajid they should adopt the maxim "less is more"...tasteful decorations that enhance the décor of the masjid..not a flag or nalayn every one inch in flashing neon...we're sunnis al hamdolilah..but we don't always need the domes of the Auliyaa Allah in every part of the prayer hall...also..ive noticed when there are pictures of the Kaaba they always contain people performing tawaaf...sometimes these pictures are in the direction of prayer.

No. For once, what I was talking about is not that. For example, I don't cringe when I see an expensive and elegant marble mimbar from the mughal era.

I cringe when someone ruins it by adding out of place flickering, shiny, jarring rainbow lights to "decorate" it with. As far as I have seen, This only happens in sunni masajid.

i have seen one "sunni" masjid having more than a dozen gumbads of the awliyaa; and right in front of the mehrab, was the gumbad shareef of one of the awliyaa. and on its sides, the Blessed green Dome, and the Nalayn Shareef. and each one of them garlanded by flashing decorative lights.

and guess what was missing? the Holy Ka'aba - not even a single picture of it in the entire masjid.

Why do sunni masajid have gaudy decorations? I am not complaining of decorations per se but gaudy ones.

Flag the whole place up with green. Brother you missed a spot.

Hey let's tie these fluorescent pink flowers on the mimbar, and how about the yellow and blue flickering lights to ruin the decency of the mihrab?

And what's up especially with the dawat Islami run masajid having these extra colorful nalain sharif shapes pasted all around, some with flickering led's I mean respect is one thing but this strange paraphernalia driven sunni branding is strange and from an asthetic point of view, just bad.
