If as per Shaykh Asrar none of his students were present in the meeting (including Bilal) then how did Bilal come up with that 8 point response on the matters discussed in the meeting? Also Shaykh Asrar did imply to support his response.

I don’t know if it is still on. I read that on his fb on Tuesday at 22:29

But it is not like Bilal’s message was written to calm the situation. It was very poorly written and a senior member of this forum should’ve taken more caution before posting it (it was later deleted). Unless there was a disclaimer put before posting the message by others who were broadcasting it, you essentially are endorsing the message and agreeing to the points.

that is all very fine. but shaykh has tacitly approved of the post as he said that he 'agrees' wth the general comments in those 8-point post.

    just saying.

Interesting that you said that. I now realised that if the meeting was private, an apology was issued, everybody made up and went for a meal, how come random people on sunniport like @Brother Barry are claiming to know what went on “during the meeting”and reporting thuggish behaviour?

Since he is siding with Imam Shahid Ali, I am now wondering who is leaking these information to these people.

is that post of 8 points removed or is it still online?

that is a very nice way of reminding everyone of your own holier-than-thou greatness while implying that imam shahid is bad.

this is a question you should ask yourself. if all had been forgiven and forgotten, why did you post a response to the 8 points? and if you posted a response, why should others not post a counter-response while your post remains online?

which raises another question - since you revived the 8 point post trashing shahid (conveniently omitting some things) why should imam shahid sahib not reinstate his video?

we are back to square one.

but bilal can write that post after the apology video?

i understand it is still online. imam shahid sahib is being hauled on the coals EVEN now for things he has apologised but not bilal for reigniting this issue.

i ask any fair minded person to read my post and decide who is responsible for reigniting the issue and why shouldn't bilal be held responsible for round2.

    wa billahi't tawfiq.

To be fair to shaykh Asrar, his facebook is run very well. Whatever comments were made by the other brothers, I believe were made on their own social media (I don't have social media so can't verify). I doubt shaykh would have known what was posted and he isn't responsible for any of it- upon being made aware (in the other thread), he has already condemned any insults from both sides.

Shaykh Asrar can't be responsible for his students as if he is monitoring their every text message- that's not how student/teacher relationships work.

For a slander of this magnitude (whether or not there is any truth in it), I consider Bilal a thug (notwithstanding Shaykh Asrar's protestations). Calling an aalim a drug dealer is a very poor reflection on Bilal's upbringing.

Until the meeting, most forum members here were unanimous in condemnation of Mawlana Shahid's ill-judged video. Once Bilal's slanderous posts (even though these had been made before the meeting) surfaced on Sunniport yesterday, the collective sentiment had turned against Shaykh Asrar's followers.

    ---

Bilal/(and his friends) MUST publicly and unreservedly apologise for his rank disgusting comments against Mawlana Shahid (who's a Sunni aalim, whatever his antecedents may be).

    AND

Shaykh Asrar MUST publicly and unequivocally condemn Bilal's slander. If Bilal refuses to publicly apologise for his slander, Shaykh Asrar should publicly disassociate himself from Bilal.

    ---

This condemnation doesn't go far enough for me. Notwithstanding the fact that Bilal was aggravated in the lead up (as claimed by Shaykh Asrar), calling someone drug dealer is an abomination.

Mawlana Shahid may have given him a hug and had dinner with Bilal after the meeting; however Bilal needs to apologise in public (on the very social media where he had posted his slander). Private hugs and apologies are not good enough for slander this vile.

Bilal posted it himself and this was a public statement. I read it on Bilal’s timeline on Facebook. Surely people can’t be blamed for sharing something that is public.

Sidi Aqdas shouldn’t have posted Bilal’s message after the apology video was released. Especially if he claims to be “unbiased” then why post a message from Bilal which was nothing much more than taking shots and disrespecting an Aalim (and other indirect scholars who aren’t involved in this dispute). That was a very poor decision and that message of Bilal is now circulated all over social platforms. The message also was very poorly written and did more damage than good.

Also, I’m not sure why Shaykh Asrar has these incompetent people running his social accounts who are causing more harm than good.

    Bro Bilal,

First of all, if you everything is 'forgiven and forgotten', perhaps you would do the Shaykh Shahid Ali the courtesy of calling him with an honorific, rather than just using his first name as if he isn't a dars nizami graduate.

Secondly, you and your friends hopped onto social media and called him a donkey, fat, drug dealer and what not. At the very least, this is backbiting if not slander.

Do you now make public tawbah for your public comments? Surely what is good for the goose is good for the gander

Elephant in the room. The disagreements aren't null and void. Shaykh Asrar is now on here to clarify to see if they can come to an agreement.

I’d encourage all those people who are still harbouring negativity and ill-thoughts as well as those adding fuel to the fire behind the scenes to come out and say it upfront and stop this backbiting.

    Appalling!

Surprisingly, Imam Shahid did not think about this when he made the initial video (maybe he did not care). Imam Shahid is the reason all of this is happening. I don’t think his 2 seconds apology or the fact that he dismissed a pre-planned 30+ minutes video as “a moment of madness” will magically make everything alright.

The consequences of his sheer lack of wisdom, judgement and inability to listen to advice given by other people will be felt for a very long time.

I am not condoning Bilal et al.’s behaviour regarding the matter but I do understand their frustration with Imam Shahid.

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

can i please just interject and state in the interests of Sunnis overall, that it would be best if a new video or joint statement with a mention of time and date be released by Shaykhs Asrar and Shahid that is something along the lines of:

'all our previous disagreements are now null and void and we have no differences. we are brothers on a unified manhaj and maslak, anyone who posts our videos/content of our disagreement or dispute prior to this date will be himself answerable to Allah for sowing discord among Sunnis' (their official representatives can do it too but its best if it is personally done by them)

otherwise the devbandis, minhajis, tafzilis and closet rawafid will do their best to cause fitnah. you may not be able to permanently remove something from social media, but you can add updated content. tbh, i was wishing/expecting something like this that night itself within Sh Shahid's apology video.

brother @Aqdas if and when you see fit, you can copy paste it on the Sh. Asrar Q&A thread (it's not a question per se, just a suggestion and request for avoiding fitnah among Sunnis (and i didn't want to barge in on that thread)

Thank you for coming on here to clarify.

that’s the reality of social media. It’s a bit naive of you to think people will not screenshot things. As it is people downloaded Imam Shahid’s video and it’s still online. You (and your friends) can’t post things and expect not to be asked about it, especially if you’ve made such underhanded comments.

but you (and your friends) felt it would be better to attack the person and call him a donkey, drug dealer, that he was bullied (this is sensitive information), etc?

I understand you might have been hurt and vexed by his video but how does this behaviour make you lot any better than him?

As a parent, I’m shocked at those comments, even more so that they come from students of knowledge. If this how you have been taught to behave or respond to people, then I’m seriously concerned.

It would be beneficial for you and your friends if you took some time off to reflect:
    -learn adab
    -how to use social media
-how to judge, manage and respond to a situation appropriately
-think of the potential consequences of your actions on yourself, and others.

    @IbnAsif

    1) Why were you brazenly offering Mawlana Shahid out to a poison drinking contest against Sh Asrar on social media? That is a very cult-like statement and seems that you may believe Shaykh Asrar has the capacity to perform miracles and can drink poison at will. It also shows that you may believe that the drinking of poison over such futile issues is halal.

    2) Do you not think your breakdown of the issue was uncalled for once the issue was buried? It could be used as an advantage for Shaykh Asrar if the public just accepted it. If the public did not accept it then Shaykh Asrar could say that he had nothing to do with it. Yet again, a technique that could gain huge benefits without getting one's hands dirty and also puts Mawlana Shahid at disadvantage.

    3) Why is there a need for all of the lads to march into Mufti Aslam's office and shoot short videos for social media like WWE? Do you not think that was a perfect recipe to add fuel to fire and rack up social media following? Does Sh Asrar not promote that matters of the scholars should be left for the scholars?

    4) Why were the videos deleted on the Sh Asrar page and then reuploaded again on Instagram? I thought the issue had been buried. Are you or the other brothers not admin on any of his socials?

    5) The video calling out Mawlana Shahid Ali to Westgate Masjid was Livestreamed on the Fans/Lovers of Shaykh Asrar Rashid page. Do we also now take this as an official page for Shaykh Asrar also? If it is not an official page then why was the "call out" streamed off the page? Why did Shaykh Asrar admin team not just stream it off the official pages?

    6) How do the masses differentiate when you post official announcements on your page such as the one below where you informed the public that Shaykh Asrar was going to Bradford and would arrive by 1 pm and when you post information/breakdowns on private meetings from your own will and without any input from Shaykh Asrar? No one would have known Shaykh Asrar was going to Bradford at 1pm except those in his close circle. Please note at the time of the announcement many of your insults were still present on Facebook. It could be taken as a psychological mechanism to intimidate prior to discussions

    https://www.facebook.com/Bilalasif91/posts/10158571185513576

"Shaykh Asrar Rashid will be in Bradford tomorrow, Sunday, 7th Nov at approximately 1pm, waiting for Shahid Ali to come out, Shaykh Asrar will wait all the way until Maghrib/Ishah in hopes to finally get Shahid Ali to agree to a face to face sit down, to discuss the concerns raised. Shaykh Asrar despite being ill hopes it will be a fruitful discussion. At arrival Shaykh Asrar will ring him to arrange a private sit down. Shaykh Asrar hopes he will come forth and discuss this face to face and not evade him as Shahid Ali has not been answering phone calls since September/October."

@IbnAsif why did u feel the need to share your thoughts on a matter that is in regards to an issue between Shaykh Asrar and Imam Shahid, especially when it is likely that your thoughts will be seen as representing those of Shaykh Asrar.

I am Bilal who wrote the statement of my own will. It was my thoughts regarding what was discussed.

On this thread there are a few claims regarding me and some of the brothers involved.

I would like to say before Shahid Ali's apology whatever had happened was forgiven and forgotten. Shahid requested we delete any insults and we did. So if those things have been forgiven and forgotten why are they being re-posted on here?

There are many things which Shahid did before his apology that have been forgotten after the apology, and I have not repeated those insults, lies and false information that he had spread.

If there are any additional questions you can ask me here of PM me privately.
