I believe this was touched on in the video. From the top of my head, I believe shaykh said something along the lines of clarification of a confusing statement is sufficient. However, he doesn't need to retract because the original statement wasn't incorrect and he believes it- just that he has needed to make it clearer.
what if Bakr’s argument is not just that Zaid clarify his position but that Zaid also retract any previous position that is erroneous and leaves room for ambiguity, since according to Bakr just as as affirming the correct creed/position is required, so is retracting the previous incorrect position and making tauba from that previous position? Bakr’s point is that the 2016 video is still online and has been reaffirmed as correct by Zaid in 2021, therefore it can still misguide people... your thoughts?
In 2016, Zayd makes a statement which causes some people confusion about praying behind devs. In 2021, he clarifies it and makes it crystal clear it's makruh tahrimi and in some cases haram. Zayd is a Sunni scholar whose views are clear against deviants. So it's the end of the matter. Only an obstinate person will keep going on about 2016.
