Did anybody put this question forward on the livestream?

I had copy pasted it from here and planned to ask on your behalf in the livestream comments section but the comments section had a few idiots arguing all over it more or less from the start so I thought I'd hold off until the actual Q&A segment starts but unfortunately I nodded off due to drowsiness from cold and flue medicine.

i have downloaded the video, i watched a few minutes of asad ali's hamza-like talk and the first feeling that came to mind is blind leading the blind.

    ---
if anything, i feel vindicated in my first post in this thread.

even if someone does ask, don’t hold your breath expecting a scholastic response. instead, we will have critiques of ‘keyboard warriors’, sound bites on the importance of sanad and knowing who you take religion from etc.

wouldnt be surprised if they end up calling for a boycott of sunniport because the truth is bitter.

tell the 'brother' to learn to read. and if he wishes he can come here and get his answers.

my post on as'ad was for a reason. and i can justify my statements.
as for the definition of sulh kulli, ask him to read my post on why i don't consider sh.asrar a sulh-kulli.

The brother followed up his question with this

Muhammad Aqdas Barelwi I think you and the SP boys have gotten on the wrong end of the stick from my comment. My comment was posted under this particular status of yours for a reason, obviously the SP boys were unaware of this.

I'm not comparing Shaykh Asrar's and Hafiz Asad's actions.

Both individuals afaik adhere to the Ashari Maturidi schools of thought yet both were thrown out of sunniyat.

My point is that hasn't aH jumped the gun and gone too far kicking Asad Sb out of sunniyat instead of saying his meeting (or potentially promoting) HY was a huge mistake or Makruh Tahreemi or Haram? If Hafiz Asad isn't a Sunni Muslim, what's the hukm on him - what is he? Is he's sulh kulli?

If so, Shaykh Asrar is with him in a mehfil tomorrow regarding sectarianism. What's the hukm on Shaykh Asrar for sharing a stage with a non Sunni? Will Shaykh Asrar have to clarify that he doesn't agree with Asad Sb on stage? And if he doesn't, will we have to cancel Shaykh Asrar for mixing with a potential SK in a Masjid event without clarifying his stance?

What's the hukm on the attendees for attending a non Sunni potentially SK guys event?

Is anyone going to that event tomorrow? Perhaps you would be able to ask a question on our behalf- something drafted up and agreed upon by some of the members here. Something like 'hamza yusuf refuses to make takfeer of individual qadiani's and refuses to acknowledge that perennialism is kufr, as evidenced by multiple videos- why do you consider him a great scholar rather than an apostate?'

Direct, to the point and can't be accused of hogging the mic etc.

Since Asad Ali is so brave and does'nt hide behind keyboards, let him clarify his stance on these three things in plain English at the upcoming public event - instead of hiding behind secretist epigrams ("Despite everything he's done hamza is still great. Just don't ask why").

There are more qualified people to comment on this than myself but to equate the Mawlana Shahid vs Sh Asrar situation to this one seems to be a false equivalence.

The outcome being the same doesn't mean aH is doing to Hafiz Asad what Mawlana Shahid is doing to sh Asrar. Sh Asrar has repeatedly clarified and explained his stance, offered to speak with Mawlana Shahid, and also come on the forum to clear any misconceptions.

Hafiz Asad on the other hand is being coy about objections being posed about his meeting with HY. He answered a question about perennialism but people were only quick to condemn him as even after he was pressed for a response/explanation, he refused to offer any information and was reluctant to clarify his stance on HY.

I don't think comparing the two situations is fair but perhaps the commenter or someone else can offer their thoughts.

Now lets make a brief comparison

    Unlike Asad:
    1. Sh. Asrar did not praise a confirmed heretic as a "great scholar" and then attack those who exposed the said heretic's kufr as "slanderers"
    2. Sh. Asrar did not leave his flock with cryptic messages about how hanson is a great person with slight mistakes which can be harmlessly disagreed over
    3. Sh. Asrar went to Shahid sab's doorstep to allay doubts and supply the sought clarification - he was even wishing to do it on live camera
    4. Sh. Asrar has been vocal against the devs and has refuted them again and again, to leave no one guessing about their bid'ah/kufr and certainly did not call any devbandi a "great scholar with minor aberrations" - there is no room for doubt about his views about devs
Asad Ali, on the other hand,
    1. has shown no willingness to refute hanson or call his perennialist sympathies as kufr
    2. has infact tried to paint hanson in positive light and downplay his crimes
    3. even went so far as to attack those who are the real heroes as "cowards who hide their faces"
    4. sought to dismiss the criticism against hanson and TSQ as "standard slander"
    5. does not even acknowledge the fatwa against TSQ from the son of murabit al-hajj
    6. has not distanced himself from Mark Hanson ('alyhi ma 'alayhi)
    7. wants to be seen hanging around with him, to be numbered amongst his "admirers"
Where is the comparison between him and sh. Asrar's case?

Now that his bluff has been called, and his guru unceremoniously exposed, Asad is clamoring for a medal for martyrdom and sympathy.
The medal for bravery hasn't yet done its tinkling and he is already whining for having been served his just desserts.

If he is so fond of attending tea-parties with dajjals, he should be prepared for being outed as a fiend-friend. The other option is to simply cease and desist.

Unless his followers are imitating the Ostrich, they should press him to speak out on TSQ, Nasr and Hanson.

    And Allah Knows best.

so now asad ali wants to ride a sympathy wave on the back of the Asrar-Shahid fallout?

The simple answer is that there is no comparison.

Asad began his stunt with a pic of himself seated with hanson (apparently enjoying a friendly repast). When people began to question the uncritical publicizing of this meeting sans any disclaimer about hanson's perennial heresies, he wore a smug attitude and ridiculed the completely legitimate questioning, passing sarcastic comments like: "We don't hide our faces when we meet people. blah blah"

At the moment he wanted to be awarded a medal for bravery for meeting and praising a confirmed heretic whose excesses against Islam include, among other things:
    • an apologetic down-playing of dante's insolence toward the Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) and the fourth Caliph, Sayyiduna 'Ali (May Allah be pleased with him),
    • refusal to consider every individual qadiyani as murtadd
    • blabbering about "human evolution" as "God can experiment" and, worst of all,
    • contribution to and promotion of an attempted tahrif of the Qur'an al-Kareem
    • adding insult to injury with his condescending remarks against those who upheld the shari'ah and sunnah by refuting and exposing The Study Quran's perennialist agenda
Now, in which book of fiqh does Asad Ali find a dispensation for praising such a bid'yi?

    Comment on FB:

Isn't what Mawlana Abu Hasan doing to Hafiz Asad the same as what Mawlana Shahid did to Shaykh Asrar

Mawlana Abu Hasan has said Hafiz Asad isn't a Sunni as did Mawlana Shahid to Shaykh Asrar

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

I don't know what's Asrar Rashid's deal with this guy, but he sounds like a confused teenager at best, not a scholar with hikmah.

Either make a thing public, or keep your and others' secrets at all costs. Don't throw these childish 'i know something you don't' teasers and movie trailers out to the public. Someone tell him deen is not a game or a part of the entertainment industry.

Hafiz As'ad has claimed that shaykh Asrar is aware of his meeting with HY and he has shared his 'findings' from the meeting with him.

Now they both share a stage together on Friday. Interesting to say the least.

Eid moon tree? "Good concepts from other religions"? Festive?

Is this what makes it into Fatawa As'adiyya?

there is a turban wearing jahil in the uk, who i am told is a karam graduate.

he is a hamza yusuf fanboy - and that, in our book is a sympathiser of perennialists.
he is no sunni (especially as he praises a perennialist enabler) and sunnis should not give him a platform. never give space for those who are attacking your religion.

    sunnis should cancel him.

    wa billahi't tawfiq.
