    @Abdullah Ahmed thank you.
    - the best option is to go silent and withdraw from the public.

that’s not specific enough which is why I asked for clarification. Silent and withdraw from the public for a week? A month?

    he literally just said:
“ I believe we must give him space to step back and reflect upon his actions, and do tawbah. my sincere advice is to stop digging a bigger hole. when one is indeed in the wrong, and is caught doing a wrong - the best option is to go silent and withdraw from the public.”

Also, there were a host of other issues prior to this scandal that were reason enough for him not to be an Imam (ie perennialist sympathy, sulh kuliyat, incorrect fatawa etc)

@abu Hasan please clarify if you think Zayd should remain in his post as an imam?

Would she have approached to marry him if he was an average Joe? No. She approached him because he is a well known imam.

He was fully cognisant of that and could have not replied to her message.

Yes, she talked to him too but as I understand, she was not aware that he was married. I’m not saying she is innocent by speaking to a non mahram. The point here is Zayd abused his position.

    The woman stated:

"and its not just one sided because I’m incriminating myself in this too yest I was wrong to continue the conversation"

    Also:

"I openly expressed that I was equally sinful"

So upon what basis is she being considered a victim, when she has explicitly stated it was not one sided and that she has incriminated herself by sharing the conversation, and also confesses to continuing the conversation, along with being equally sinful?

I agree he should do tawbah but Mawlana is taking no consideration of the actual victim here who is the woman Zayd was taking to. What about her and her family?

Zayd was in a position of power and obviously misused that. The reason he used his real name to talk to her, naivety aside, is because he was also using his influence. He made mockery as his position of a leader and imam and should be struck off with immediate effect. He can obviously use that time to reflect.

whether a scholar, a pretender, a student or a layman - we must try not to transgress limits in our righteous anger.
zayd might have committed a sin - may Allah forgive him - Allah ta'ala is Ghafur, Rahim.

i believe we must give him space to step back and reflect upon his actions, and do tawbah. my sincere advice is to stop digging a bigger hole. when one is indeed in the wrong, and is caught doing a wrong - the best option is to go silent and withdraw from the public. this helps in a number of ways - one is spared the taunts, and jeers by those who would be glad to see your back; and it serves as an unsaid apology - a form of regret; and also keeps you away from firing line of those with righteous anger and indignation.

i also feel bad for the family - who has to suffer public humiliation and embarrassment, even though it is none of their fault. in fact, they are secondary victims in such cases.

we must fear Allah, and we must seek Allah's refuge from the evil of our own selves and evil of the Devil.

    nas'alu Allah al-aafiyah.

This is professional malpractice. In any other field this person would be struck off. The fact that some scholars are trying to find excuses for him is mind boggling. I am sure that there are more of these shenanigans going on with these new young imams or Twitter religious youths. Curse them all. Some of them really need a good slap.
part of this problem started with this idea of islamic free mixing. Or advising women to travel without mahrams for religious events / studies saying that it is OK. They poison the mind of our women so that they can have free pickings. Remember guys they will groom your wife or daughter and use the religion as an excuse to dishonour you. They are the true shaytaans.

If this is true, the idea that this young Imam, an alim graduate, founder of an institute, famous Burdah tourer, whose job also involves safeguarding others was willing to do such shenanigans is mind-boggling. It’s particularly shocking to learn that no one has spoken up publicly against this disgraceful episode yet. This does not fall into the category of exposing private sins. This person is an imam, in the public sphere, who clearly enjoys a following of over 41K. He is in an obvious position of trust and influence which he abused or took advantage of.

It is well known that when under the cosh, the young Imam has been known to equivocate; not answering the question, sneering, attacking the questioner, and making unpleasant remarks are all part of his repertoire. However, this new response of his on IG reaches a whole new level. Not only is it vague but it is also misleading and probably written with the intention to obfuscate and sway public opinion in his favour. What a flamboyant embellishment of the truth.

The young Imam’s behaviour is definitely troubling (and I have been made aware, he is not the only one). This is a man whose islamic ethics should make him run a mile from the idea of a ‘wild escapade’. But when confronted with the decision to engage, he willingly took part. He didn't say what he should have said: No, I'm sorry, but I can't do that, or I am married or Given my job, this is an inappropriate proposal. Good night. Instead, the young Imam decided his loyalty lay with his passions, not his wife.

Given the young Imam’s actions, it is preposterous (in more ways than one) to then act like he is the victim. In this case, the young Imam should pay the price with a brutal demotion, and not be allowed the cop out of “back shortly… because I (very suddenly realised that I) need to care about my family.”

One would feel more sympathy towards the young Imam if he possessed the minimum decency to admit his wrongdoings. I personally showed the young Imam some grace when he put “inactive” on his IG. He must be repentant, I thought. But soon after, he removed it and made his latest IG post with renewed bravado. The young Imam should have some self respect and rethink of his strategy because in reality, this is worse than Asim: it is less than a year since the he got married and at the time of his wild adventure, had a wife with child.

Even more disgraceful are the molvis and the young Imam’s chums who remain silent on the matter. In my eyes, they are equally complicit. Rather than holding the young Imam to account and making a public statement demanding his resignation, he is being granted special treatment. Shame on the young Imam, and shame on you all.

There was no sting operation, the fundamental issue here is that Imam Asad Ali has been acting in the same manner as Imam Asim Hussain, and he has phrased his Instagram post to elicit sympathy from his followers in order to maintain both his street cred and social media following. He must speak with the more senior ulama and resign from his role as an Imam.

A large amount of his entourage needs to fix up as well, such as his friends Imam Karam Rehman, Imam Nizamuddin Babariya, Imam Umar Farooq and Imam Abbas Arshad.

It has also come to light that young Imams from all over the UK are shamelessly coming to Imam Asad’s defense. Some junior students have been trolling Imam Asad on Twitter, resulting in the deactivation of his account. It's disheartening to know that some of these students were previously attending his Burdah gatherings, while others are attacking him out of pure jealousy. This demonstrates the insincerity of some people, and it's worth noting that some of his critics are guilty of the same or worse behavior.

People need to cease elevating Young Imams, Tullabah, and social media admins because numerous incidents of people from these groups in the US, UK, and France have come to light since last year.

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

a sting op by definition means it don't matter if the other side was unfair, of course they were! the only thing that matters is that he got nabbed with full evidence, trying to commit / committing a crime. he is crying. whoever this character is, tell him better luck next time!

My thoughts on the buffoonish comments in that chat:

    1. Which of the Habaib said Charles is Muslim and on what grounds?

    2. Does having an interest and doing lectures on tasawwuf prove his Islam somehow? Clearly not.

    3. Even if we supposed he was some kind of secret Muslim, hiding his imaan for no reason whatsoever, upon ascension to the throne, he would become automatic head of the Anglican church- do these guys think it's possible to be head of church and Muslim at the same time?

    4. The monarchy having a superior theoretical interest in all the land is a redundant point.

    5. Asad, instead of calling out such stupidity, decides to make a joke at the expense of barelwis. How about you educate your followers instead mate.

On one hand we have a group of enthusiastic youngsters crying over the sad state of sunni barelwis. They want works to be published. They want sunni academia flourishing. They want Alahazrats 10 point plan in action.

Then on the other hand. We have modern 'shaykhs' playing football wearing shorts above the knees. They go for holidays, listen to music, have music backgrounds in their 'Islamic videos'. They will shave part of their head, have Hollywood hairstyles and move around like gangsters.

It's up to the awaam now to decide who they want to support.

    Burda events or publications.

The same can be said about calling naat reciters. We have some youngsters among our communities who are excellent reciters. They should be awarded these opportunities. People should be enthralled to the kalaam itself, not to the voice behind the kalaam.

Allah have mercy upon our state. We are the ones responsible for this state.

In sha Allah 10 to 20 years from now everyone will look back at the fatawa of our pious predecessors on videography and photographs, what great foresight Huzoor Ahsanul Ulama, Huzoor Hafiz e Millat, Huzoor Mufti e Azam Hind and Huzoor Taajush Shariah Radi Allahu Anhum had.

We the Burdah Reciters are fearless and untouchable. We are social media Muftis. You don't even have 1k followers. We watch movies and discuss them, we go to football games and have a social life unlike you guys. We have friends who do tawaf around the TV and pray facing Masjid Aqsa but we have over 35k followers so rules do not apply to us. Everyone is beneath us, we have done more for the Ummah then any of you, this is a toxic forum that only critiques scholars. As Conor McGregor once said "Don't come at the King"

I appreciate the directness and the fact that this was a very unambiguous refutation of HY.
I wish more Ulema would do this.

I could be wrong, but i feel that our Ulema have become so extra overly-cautious of doing rightful takfir due to fear of backlash and criticism. They would rather remain silent on the matter; such silence is sometimes the cause for more fitnah and misguidance. Or perhaps, they are so humble that they dont feel that they are qualified enough to make takfir?
