I guess that epidemic isn't limited to Muslims (real or namesakes) ...

its a modern scourge .. or is it?

do we have any records proving that the majority of the populace, say 200 or 400 years ago, were not as dumb as they now appear?

for example, why would the Egyptians accept Pharaoh as their "Lord most High" or the people in nimrod's time accept his clearly stupid claim that he "gives life and death too" - unless, I don't know, they were rather dumb?

    just thinking out loud ...

but sometimes the term is also used as a kind of tongue-in-cheek or sarcasm or even approval - for example, someone writes that under a picture of analog computers or say a CRT or even the voyager spacecraft.

I don't think that will carry any hukm?

AbdalQadir time to move along! will check pm's.

Some people do modern urban qiyas and think that just as we say Salam to Muslims and a hello or 'good day' to non Muslims, we can say Marhoom or Maghfoor or 'Allah reham kare' to Muslims, and say a 'rest in peace' or RIP for non Muslims.

That's the real epidemic right there! Muslims don't have any critical thinking or observation skills, specially on matters of iman and kufr.

So many Muslim people on social media are accustomed to saying RIP after the death of non Muslims. Just came across what Mawlana Husain Qadri said about it (see below). This would require Tajdīd e iman and Nikah, people should be more careful about things like this.

    “RIP?! Please read!

Many of our young brothers and sisters are confused why we can't say R.I.P. when a non-Muslim dies.

Firstly read the definition of RIP:
"Rest in peace" (Latin: Requiescat in pace ([rekwiˈeskat in ˈpatʃe], Ecclesiastical Latin: [re.kwiˈɛs.kat in ˈpa.tʃe])) is a short epitaph or idiomatic expression wishing ETERNAL REST and PEACE to someone who has died. The expression typically appears on headstones, often abbreviated as R.I.P. or RIP."

In other words, you supplicating that the dead doesn't go through any punishment and be forgiven...

(You might ask) What's wrong with that?!

    A great problem!!

Imām Shihāb Al-Dīn Qarāfī Mālikī says: "To pray for the forgiveness of a disbeliever is an act of Kufr as the supplicator wants to falsify the verse of the Qur'ān; "Undoubtedly Allāh does not forgive (the sin of) those who disbelieve in Him." (4:48)."

Imam Ahmad Ridā 'Alayhi al-Rahmah explains thereafter: "Meaning if a person deems it possible that a disbeliever can be forgiven and will be spared the punishment of the Hellfire, then he has rejected the verse of the Qur'ān (thus it's Kufr) otherwise this statement is Harām...rather he faces 2 calamities:
    1. He knows that there is no forgiveness for a disbeliever yet still he wishes to falsify the statement of Allāh.
    2. He said is as mockery.

And both are close to Kufr.

Therefore it necessitates Tawba, renewing one's faith and Nikāh."
