and why is it not done for Bareilly to not explicitly name obaidullah in fatwa but okay for shaykh Adam to be humble and wise (when not naming deobandis or keller)? One standard for desis and another for non-desis?

i don't know about that. again, you can't make the entire world eat samosas and laddus. if he dealt with the concept and said the truth, then it is clear which side he stands on. afaik, he doesn't like naming names on the blog and intends to keep it more like a database of Sunni concepts and refutations at a creedal level and not anything more than that.

maybe Abu Hasan can comment himself if he knows something about it. but i remember seeing a comment on his blog where someone mentioned keller by name, and not approvingly, and he permitted that comment.

He (Shaykh Adam) or the website administrator kept deleting the link that I posted to abu Hasan's Killer Mistake/The Truth about Lies in the comments section to that article. For some reason he wasn't comfortable being linked to abu Hasan's expose of keller.

actually i see that as a very humble and wise thing. he is a convert shaykh and it's great that he didn't pull a keller - namely playing a know-it-all judge and jury over desis. he refuted a heresy at a conceptual level as a Muslim without getting into desiness and that's that. don't forget that identifying the criminal (in this specific case) is once again an issue of iltizam, luzoom, forensics, incriminating evidence etc. for Urdu speakers.

for non-desis it's a major turn off when someone tries too hard to "desify" them. it would be much better for us to let Ala Hazrat's stature as a scholar speak for itself. translate Fatawa Ridawiya in english and let the non-desi world make up its own mind rather than chasing people with 'why didn't you/he/she name and shame the deo infamous 5?'

it is the deobandis who want to make desis out of the rest of the world. it would be crazy if we too want the entire world painted in subcontinental colors. you can't make everyone in this world eat samosas and laddus like the tablighi jamat tries so hard!

Shaykh Abu Adam should be applauded for not pulling a keller, not rebuked.

I don't know who is/was Shaykh abu Adam behind sunni answers. But for all his knowledge, erudition and refutation of false beliefs, he was never willing to openly and categorically say deobandis are deviants. May be he didn't want to drawn into sub-continent polemics and sectarian divide.

It is all right to call a crime a crime, but to not identify the criminal is a "cop-out". Isn't it a job of a cop to catch, name and shame criminals?
