salaam alaykom, to confirm he was 100% drunk from alcohol not paan........! I could give the names of others from his tanzeem that are a little partial to the pop.

The shame is that they cart his mug in front of the TV when it come to issues of the deen.

After reviewing the video again and in light of the explanation given by this Ashrafi fellow, and revelations of others about him, it seems clear he was intoxicated, most likely with alcohol. Paan cannot make you slur your words like that or generally behave like that at all, people who chew Paan regularly know this. If he had been under the influence of some medication which made him behave like that he would simply have said so but the fact that he came out a ridiculous excuse such as this Paan one leads you to believe that he did definitely imbibe something he wasn't supposed to.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Mawlana Sahib, a drunkard though a grevious sinner will still be forgiven by Allah Ta`ala as long as he remains sahih al-`aqidah, even if after [Allah Almighty forbid] being punished for his misdeeds in Hell, he will still attain entrance into Jannah but people with corrupt `aqidah like this Devbandi have no chance or hope of even this, unless they make tawbah and return to the correct creed before dying.

That BBC article does highlight a worrying trend though, it seems a lot of the `awam (those that aren't with them) are looking at mullas like Padri and this drunkard and tarring all `ulama with the same brush, when the `ulama-i haq are far, far removed from all of these jahil idiots. Denigration of the `ulama is becoming widespread due to rhe actions of people who cannot even be categorised as Sunni, never mind `ulama, by a long shot.

But was Ashrafi really drunk? In an interview with BBC Trending, he denied having consumed alcohol and instead said he had been chewing paan, a traditional mixture of tobacco leaves. He says he is being deliberately targeted because the PUC, a body of religious scholars that he chairs, opposes recent street protests by Khan and Qadri's parties. "I see political and religious propaganda behind the social media uproar," he says. The incident continues to trend on social media, with internet memes showing paan-flavoured alcohol and film posters mocking his appearance.

He is an ignoramus, that is backed by the media in Pakistan especially GEO (have had funding off India and Israel in recent times). Whenever there is an religious issue they will cart his ugly mug in front of the cameras. Let me tell you how sneaky this guy is, his tanzeem have in recent year paid the media in pakistan to refer to their moulvi's as "ahle sunnah" rather then wahabi, salafi or deobandi.

According to my understanding he was driving in a car going to or from Lahore when he was stopped by the "Jagga Tax" Police. He was asked to slight his vehicle and when doing so one of the "jagga tax" police clocked who he was and started to film him. He tried to claim he was on medication and that's why he was slurring his word but the fact of the matter is he was caught in a drunken stupor. The recording was passed onto the TV station straight away before it could be intercepted..................LOL!!!!

being a deobandi is much worse than being drunk.

he is not always drunk, but is a deobandi 24/7.

Is it not possible that he is on some kind of medication that is making him behave like that, and not drunk?

According to my knowledge Moulvi Tahir is in fact a mutasab deobandi and not from ahle sunnat wal jamaat in his aqaid.
