    misconception, due to ignorance.

i know ikhwanis, they are a mix of everything, like jamat-e-islami.

enlighten us with those different types of sunnis, for us sunnis are the same everywhere around the world.

  2. Egypt is majority traditional Sunni.
Not all are Sufi or agree with Sufis but they are still Sunni (as in not Wahabi)
many of our Sunni brethren from the subcontinent fail to recognise that there are 'other' types of Sunnis around the world who may not fit in with what we would expect Sunnis to talk or behave like.

We all know who the ikhwan ul Muslimeen are and we are always told they are salafi in ideology, but this is not always strictly the case. Our people need to stop measuring Sunnis with the Barelvi yard stick. How many Sunnis will you exclude from ASWJ because they are not Sufi?

    Brother Wadood,

Personally this also happens in our country, where a Sunni votes for Shia and even wahabi vote for shia etc...

The Ahle Sunnah are majoirty in Egypt but because people have no knowledge of what the belief of Salaifis are, they vite for them being Islamic and Muslims...... how many people in the world do you meet that actually know about FIQH????

I base this on, that if Egypt was majority Wahbai, we would have no mawlid Nabi celebration, No Shrines etc... but Egypt Shrines and Mawlid Nabi is widely practiced
    ALLAH knows the best

9.7 million was 62% of the eligible voter population in these 9 provinces [Cairo, Alexandria, Assiut, Luxor, Kafr al-Sheikh, Port Said, the Red Sea, Damietta and Fayoum.]

in the run-offs out of 104 candidates, salafis are 36!

these are the results of the first round of votes in 9 provinces out of 27

    ikhwan almuslimoon -36.6%

    salafis 24.4%

    # of votes cast: 9.7 million

that means, 2.3668 million egyptians voted salafi in these 9 provinces alone for al-nour party

is there any sunni political party?

  8. i think it's a case of the lesser of two evils. . .

if i had a choice between a secularist/libraaleee party and the ikhwan, i think i'd go for the ikhwan.

what would be the most wisest option, in your opinion?
