A correction I wanted to post a couple of weeks ago but forgot.

In the figure (guess) I threw out above I forgot to factor in the Shia population (18%).
So the guess should have been lower.

Lets assume the 'muslim' population of South Asia is 500 million. Subtract the 18% Shia leaving us with 410 million, which is the 'Sunni' population.

Now 85% of this figure should give us the Barelvi population. Which is 348.5 million.

Of course all this is based on the claims of the article.

Brother from what I have searched and asked various Schlors the stats for Pakistan are as follow (predicted)

    SunnI hanidi Brelvi - 70%
    Deobandi - 10%
    Wahabi - 5%
Shia - 13% (but Shia;s have to many splits amongst them some follow 5 imam, some 7 some 12 and 15 and 22
    Others 2%

But bare in mind, the Sunni Brelvi are also majoirty in Punjab, Balouchistan, Sindh and North..... but the high seats in Goverment and Political Power and Media power is majoirty with Deo's and Whabais and Shia's......

However, the Deobandis are the most confused one, as nearly 45% Deobanids do exactly what Sunni Hanifi Brelvis do, such as Khatum <Salato Salam but call themselves Deobandi due to lack of knowledge or because the area's schlor is deobandi...

Trust me if Pakistan was MAJORITY run by Deobandis and Wahabis, there will be no Shia's or Sunni brelvi they would have got rid of us..... WE SUNNIS are majority there and thats the reaosn we are surviving... our schlors are good at there ILM but politcally they are useless and hence are equally to blame for SUNNIS being weak!!!

ISLAM does not just say deliver KHUTBAY anD FATWA's you arealso required to be Politically active !!

MAY ALLH STRENGTHEN US SUNNIS AMEEEN

I just wanted to put out some statistics from an article I came across several years ago on the 'globalsecurity.org' site). What do people make of the statistics?

    ....

    ....

I'm assuming 'South Asia' here refers to at least Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.
That is probably 1/3 to under 1/2 of the worldwide muslims (400-500 million muslims?)
