We should all indeed strive our best to follow the Prophet's blessed example. However, Muslims don't need this kind of rhetoric. This is what happens when foolish people make a celebrity out of any convert who used to be a rap star or has a tattoo!

    true.

    ---
what is missing from 'leaders' of the islamic world (apart from a spine) is the ghayrah for their deen.

look at how obama and others in the west constantly talk about: 'american values..' and how they will defend 'american way of life' even if it means to invade nations and plunder, massacre civilians.

why don't muslim (leaders) have courage to say: 'okay, if you are so passionate about YOUR values, so are we. to you yours and to us ours.'

muslims should not try to argue in terms of western values - the west may hold drunkenness, debauchery, homosexuality, nudity and disrespect close to their hearts and die for such things. we have our own values of being teetotal, chastity, modesty, hijab and respect; and we should defend these values.

    ---
in fact, punishing innocent people for the supposed or real crime of others is a western concept. apparently, a bunch of people attacked 'american values', so americans (and all those 'innocent' ones who cheered them) invaded afghanistan and iraq, laid it to waste, all in the name of retaliation for 911 - even though it was never proved that osama was responsible for it. the hypocrites weep and remember the 3000 killed in WTC attacks, but ignore the millions killed, maimed and displaced in the name of revenge, retaliation and punishment.

the reason why we should not attack non-muslims in our countries, is because, such shameful and criminal behaviour is a western value. islam teaches us to punish only those who are responsible and when it has been established that the accused is indeed culpable and it is the hakim's right to enforce punishment.

no kangaroo courts. no guantanamos. no carpet bombing innocent civilians. no killing of women and children.

    ---
if dictators in the arab world oppressed their people, it is because they embraced western values (and were actively supported by the west for their own selfish ends); if they were true muslims, there would neither be oppression, nor injustice.

    wa billahi't tawfiq.
    Allah ta'ala knows best.

    brother Abu Hasan:

I too never recommended in my post that all westerners need to be punished!

But I found the fatwa (1) too mild, trying to placate Muslims and (as usual) an attempt to prevent even peaceful demonstrations in Saudi Arabia

and (2) lacking in calling for punishment to the actual perpetrators of this heinous crime.

By google standards, the disgusting movie is not hate speech!

They are NOT removing this crap from youtube. And they are not permitting a response to be uploaded. This is clearly "Freedom of hate speech" or rather "Freedom to Insult".

this could be a problem with translation, because it is already labeled as 'sinful and criminal'. Allah ta'ala knows best.

we don't like the wahabis but not everything they say is wrong.

in this case, i don't see anything wrong in what the wahabi mufti has said.

we should not generalise this. if a bunch of mal'uneen commit blasphemy we cannot hold the entire west responsible for the crimes of a few.

otherwise, it would become necessary for us to burn every pakistani embassy and murder pakistani diplomats everywhere in the world if some shaqee commits blasphemy in pakistan. the book sayf al-maslul (and sarim al-maslul) was written because of an issue where a dhimmi blasphemed against the Master sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam. nowhere have seen in these two books that it is necessary to punish the community for the crime of an individual or a group of individuals.

even if hillary did not explicitly distance the US-gov from the blasphemy, it would still not be right for muslims to cause riots in their own countries and burn or kill people around them for the crime of a devil in some far off land.

    ----
shaykh abdu'l ghani al-ghunaymi (author of al-lubab, a commentary on quduri; and the student and scribe of imam ibn abidin shami) intervened in a similar* circumstance in 1860, when a group of misguided youth tried to attack christians in midan, damascus. a massacre was averted due to the intervention of the shaykh.

    Allah ta'ala knows best.

    -----
    * it doesn't appear to be an issue of blasphemy though.

He said Muslims should be enlightened enough to understand that this sinful and criminal endeavor was not meant to insult the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) because by all means they cannot hurt him.:
    UNQUOTE
Yes, they cannot hurt the Prophet, but surely the entire crap was meant to insult the Best of the Creation, and to portray him in the most disgusting and derogatory manner.

    QUOTE
because Almighty Allah has raised high the Prophet’s esteem and brought upon those who oppose him a painful torment and humiliation.
    UNQUOTE
So Muslims can wait until Allah sends that scoundrel to hell. Are we not supposed to punish the perpetrator of such crimes? Should he not have called upon the US govt to hand-over the criminal to Egypt (where it was targetted)?

    QUOTE
He stressed that Muslims’ condemnation of this criminal attempt should be within the boundaries decreed by Allah in His Holy Book and His Prophet’s Sunna.
    UNQUOTE

Needs elaboration: the Prophet's Sunna is to seek out such shitbags and send them on thier way to hell.

a.k.a 'economic boycott': Which the muslims can never do - they're too addicted to zionists' products to care for anything.

'protests and petitions are tools of colonial subjects': And yet indians were wise enough to bycott the finished goods of their own colonial masters.

do shias pray friday prayers? genuine question. i thought they didn't.

    ---

in any case, protests and petitions are tools of colonial subjects and only divert muslims away from the real solid actions they should be taking

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has slammed the antagonistic policies of Zionism and the US as the root cause of the recent production of an American movie desecrating Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم&hp)

Imam Khamenei issued a message on Thursday following the anti-Islam move. The full text of the message follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Dear Iranian nation; and the great Islamic ummah

The filthy hand of the enemies of Islam once again revealed its deep-rooted malice by insulting the Grand Prophet [Mohammad] (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and with an insane and deplorable measure showed the fury of the evil Zionists at the daily-increasing radiance of Islam and Holy Qur’an in the present world.

Regarding the disgrace of the agents of this crime and great sin it suffices to say that they have targeted the most sacred and luminous figure among the world sanctities with their disgusting nonsense. Behind this evil move lie the antagonistic policies of the Zionists and the US and other heads of the global arrogance, who in their vain delusions want to knock down the Islamic sanctities from their lofty position in the eyes of the young generations in the world of Islam and to extinguish their religious sentiments.

Had they not backed the previous links in this evil chain, namely Salman Rushdie, the Danish cartoonist, and the US pastors who burned the Holy Qur’an and had they not made orders for [production of] tens of anti-Islam movies to companies affiliated to the Zionist capitalists, things would not have lead to this great and unforgivable sin today.

The prime suspects in this crime are Zionism and the US government. If the US politicians are honest in their claim of not being involved [in production of this film], [they] must bring the perpetrators of this hideous crime and their financial backers, who have wrenched the hearts of Muslim nations, to face a punishment proportionate to this great crime.

Muslim brothers and sisters must know that this desperate move by the enemies in the wake of the Islamic Awakening is a sign of the grandeur and importance of this uprising and heralds its increasing growth.
