Spot on.. this is something I personally have found works very well, stick to those scholars who are known to follow the ijima and you can never go wrong.
I talked to shaykh asrar once and he said something useful [paraphrased]: that he recognised deviancy by sticking to the consensual opinions [ijma'a]. here, AHM is saying he discussed the issue with scholars thereby trying to validate his stance but the way to save ourselves from adopting shadh opinions* is by sticking to the ijma'a. otherwise, shadh opinions can be found for various matters. e.g. paqs can maybe [mis]quote a few scholars for his stance of afdaliyyah but will we then leave the ijma'a in favour of shadh? * I'm not saying this is even a shadh opinion but making a point
brother Barry, religion is what makes a society. in a new thread, i will discuss the social game that Hamza Yusuf, Zaid Shakir, Sherman Jackson, Suhaib Webb, and others have played. their promise was to make an indigenous American Muslim Culture, which is still non-existent on the ground. false promises? were all the sidis now in their 40s duped?
Hence why I said his dangerous, It's a shame that people are so wrapped up in the glitz & glamour of such individuals. The vast majority of them never see through the smokescreen I guess due to the nature of being besotted with a personality over the truth.
but in North America, among established recent immigrant communities in the past two decades ,beginning 1992, hamza yusuf team has successfully pacified the educated Sunni generation [ tranquilized ]. the group affected is the university educated Sunni cream and honey, which became sulah kulli or perennialist, and sometimes murtadd. Their parents hardly had an idea. Newly arriving immigrants are safer, and they are the ones building the mosques. With his african american teams, they have pacified the African American communities in the main cities. Educated Muslim localities among African Americans have not developed in the US. They are stll scattered. Even though this was hamza yusuf's misleading promise in the first place. He lied. It is only Shaykh Gilani of Pakistan, Lahore, a Sufi Sunni, who was successful in establishing Muslim villages.
AHM is a dangerous guy just like HY & TUQ.. Such individuals have damaged the Imaan & Aqeeda of countless individuals who have latched onto them.
appalling sleight of hand. so what AHM has done is broaden the first type of intercession [which encompasses even the kuffar] and apply it across the remaining four types [which are only for muslims]. the danger with such preachers, including tahir jhangvi and hamza Yusuf, is after hearing such talk; why would a kafir feel the need to enter islam? AHM here is saying 'good' kafirs will be saved and he is therefore hacking at the foundations of the religion. in fact, does this come under al-riDa bi'l kufr? I think people who invite these people to their events etc. should be asked about such things.
This is a wonderful book that explains intercession in detail. It is an extremely important work in this time. http://www.ihsanica.com/pinnacle_of_beauty.html http://www.ihsanica.com/publications/PinnacleOfBeauty_Ihsanica.pdf
many of these juggler "scholars" fall in the category of: the devil may use the scripture for his purpose. ---- summaries on our aqidah about shafa'ah: http://sunniport.com/index.php?threads/shafaah-intercession.12574/
Has he quoted that narration correctly... What was the reason for not translating it's last part? Ahadith # 10 & 11 The Holy Prophet the Intercessor of the Sinners said, “I shall intercede, on the Day of Judgement, for more persons than the total number of trees, stones and pebbles on the face of this earth." Tibrani & Baihaqi from Hazrat Buraidah. Tibrani in Majam Awsat from Hazrat Anas FORTY AHADEETH ON THE INTERCESSION OF THE HOLY PROPHET by Imam Ahmad Raza Khan (May Allah shower mercy upon him) (English Translation by Aqib Farid Qadri)
Can some of the learned brothers comment on the half translation he gave and the arabic wording he attributes to the Prophet salawatullahi wa salamun alayhi
Here is the wording which he mentions شفاعتي لاكثر من في الارض من حجر و مدر (My intercession shall be for the majority of the people on earth)
Salaam...what have the Muhaditheen said regarding the second Hadeeth he cites about the intercession being for the majority of mankind? I haven't heard this quoted before..what is its strength and who are the narrators?
The video about the burda - if you edit out the heretical statements (and they are quite a few for so short a clip) - the remainder of his answers are really good and touching. I pray that he receives guidance and returns to the ahlussunnah.
1. does he still believe what he said here? 2. “The Honorary Doctorate of Divinity is awarded to individuals who have made a global impact through their religious leadership," said Tim Winter, Academic Secretary in the Faculty of Divinity. "I am delighted that His Highness the Aga Khan, whose charitable and spiritual leadership has a truly worldwide reach, and whose support for scholarship has impacted profoundly on Islamic Studies, should have been chosen for this well-deserved honour.” (http://www.akdn.org/Content/769)
