Here are some items that are discussed in al-Tuhfa.

2 different names of the poem
    3) number of verses, and verses that have been added to it
    4) a count of the people who wrote commentaries on the poem or expansions of it.
    5) the sayings of the scholars about the poem
    6) famous visions related by scholars about the poem
    7) section on the fact that visions of the Prophet salla Allahu alayhi wa alihi wa sallam are true.

    etc,

    12) chapter in response to those who attacked the burda

thanks for the info. His shaved mustach did make me suspicious. i checked the about-us page but missed the 'teachers' section.

I watched the video entirely but didn't find anything amiss. Infact, in the last five minutes he approvingly mentions al-utbi's narration (involving surah nisa, verse 64) from al-adhkar of Imam nawawi and criticizes the saudi editors for tampering with the text. In the middle he did say that the verses criticized by the wahabis shouldn't be taken literally and that poets always take liscences. Maybe it was just a clever way of saying that istigatha is allowed only when metaphirical. Maybe not.

Also, he calls adul hakim murad's translation of the burdah as the best available. AHM has added verses by qasim nanotwi (the blasphemer) in it. So maybe that was another sign of his background.

    wallahu'alam.

There is a fantastic work in Arabic on the Burda written by one of the 'arifeen from Somalia and is called al-Tuhfa fi Mahasin al-Burda. It is A brilliant handbook on the Burda.

perhaps the only video with lyrics of the complete qasida. there's one more but it has female voices in background. there is an excellent one from qtv but without lyrics.

there is a single english translation amicably shared across the internet :)

One of the most Beautiful Qasidah I have ever read. And the most beautiful part of this Qasidah is the way of recitation around the Globe! Whether you listen to the Traditional Classical way of recitation by Qari Rizwan Sahab, or with Duff and the Turkish Style by Mesut Kurtish, the Plain Simple style of Rashid Azam, the Dawat-e-Islami style of Nisar Ahmad Marfani and the recitation of Syed Sabih Rahman Sahab .

I do not how my brothers here on Sunniport feel about it, but whenever I listen to Qasidah Burdah Shareef, there is always something new that I feel I am listening to. The Words are so beautiful.

May Allah Grant Hazrat Imam Sharafuddin al-Busiri Rahmatullah 'Alayh the Highest Place in Jannat al-Firdaws, closest to Huzoor Sallallahu 'Alayhe Wasallam, and May Allah Reward the Same to Those people who recite it With Love of Rasool Allah Sallallahu 'Alayhe Wasallam . AAMEEN
