Sahibzada Fazal Kareem, chairman Sunni Ittehad Council (SiC) and chief of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP), passed away after a protracted illness on Monday. He was 58. Fazal Kareem was a liver patient and admitted to Allied Hospital Faisalabad few days ago. He has left behind four sons, Hamid Raza, Hussain Raza, Hassan Raza and Mohsin Raza, and a daughter to mourn his death. He was born on October 24, 1954, in Faisalabad in a Jaat family. His father, Muhaddis-e-Azam Pakistan Sardar Ahmad Qadri, was not only a leading scholar but also ran the Mazhar-e-Islam Jamia Rizvia seminary at Jhang Bazaar, Faisalabad. Fazal was elected MPA and MNA twice and he also served as a religious affairs minister in Punjab from 1997 to 1999. His Funeral prayer will be held at Dhobi Ghat Ground at 10am on Tuesday. Prime Minister, Justice (Retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the passing away of Sahibzada Fazal Kareem, Chief of Sunni Ittehad Council.
