Abi Talib on the pretextual quest of avenging the martyrdom of his paternal cousin which resulted in the deaths of over 25,000 Muslims, quite a few of whom were from the Muhajirin and the Ansar, yet ain't nobody allowed to say anything even remotely negative about them and if this history is mentioned as it happened we are told to remain silent lest we become deviants and instead told to lavish these men with praises. This is not a history lesson though. I just want to highlight the blatant hypocrisy many of us manifest for we extoll men such as Mu'awiya b. Abi Sufyan knowing full well what they did was criminal and cannot be justified regardless of how many fanciful ta'wilat someone wants to bring forth in their defence but then at the same time we want to act like jury, judge and executioner when a brother is caught doing some wrong shit. We want to expose him to the rest of the world for what he has done. In doing so, we practically illustrate that there is something seriously wrong with our moral compass. And by the way, you can praise the aforementioned men as much as you want. It really makes no difference to me. Their status with Allah is not going to increase by praises and nor will it decrease by the lack thereof either. I am only highlighting the contradiction in excessively praising them and then going bonkers if a brother does something which does not amount to the gravity of what they did. Much more could be said. So yeah, to conclude, shit happens. That was from one Tafzili.
You are more learned Brother, all I can say is because of him loads of people are insulting and accusing Sahaba. Minhajis & him are the same when it comes to insulting Sahaba. Yes Tahir is a bigger fitna, those Ulema who don't speak up openly about him should.
