    ----------
this commentary is apparently written by imam abu bakr al-jaSSaS al-razi, d. 370 AH.

the qasidah - i.e. the source text - was composed by imam sirajuddin ali al-ushi, who passed away in 575 AH.

    ----
why didn't the researcher/editor/publisher expend some effort to get these right? it is not like bad' al-amali is an obscure text - it was commonly used in hanafi schools world over. mulla ali al-qari and ibn jama'ah wrote commentaries on it; widely referenced in hanafi works (even in shuruh of jawharah) - for example, murtada zabidi mentioned this (and commentaries) in his it'haf al-sadah, ibn abidin in radd al-muhtar etc.

the summary is that: bad' al-amali is a well known text, especially in scholarly circles.

    ---------
even the author himself mentions in the preface "al-mu'taqad al-mu'tamad" which could either be turpushti's farsi work or imam kasani's "al-mu'tamad fi'l mu'taqad".

    aml4.png

in the passage above (from the preface of the author) it is printed as "al-kisa'i" - but it should probably be al-kasani whose text on aqidah is contemporaneous to bad' al-amali.

imam alauddin abu bakr ibn mas'ud al-kasani, the author of badayiy al-sanayiy passed away in 587 AH. in kashf al-zunun and jawahir al-muDi'yyah, he is said to have written an aqidah book - al-sultan al-mubin fi usuli'd din. shaykh abdul hayy al-lucknawi in al-fawa'id al-bahiyyah (p.53) says citing al-qari: according to some, he named it: al-mu'tamad fi'l mu'taqad. [qari in his al-athmar al-janiyyah fi asma'a al-hanafiyyah, 2/705].

upon a search, i came to know that it has been published recently. if it is the same book or some other, i do not know. but here is the cover:

anyway, it is clear that the author (i.e of the sharh of bad' al-amali we are discussing) lived post 587AH; or if the mu'taqad mentioned in the preface was that of tur pushti, then it is post 661AH. allamah faDlullah turpushti's risalah is in persian and is recommended by imam rabbani. this risalah was published originally in india in the 19th century and reprinted by hakikat kitabevi.

so it is clear that "abu bakr al-razi" is not al-jaSSaS [d.370 AH].

the publisher/editor was probably misled by the old edition of the work which mentions abu bakr al-razi as the author, and assumed it was al-jaSSaS. fortunately, he did not attribute it to the zindiq abu bakr al-razi, the physician.

in kashf al-zunun however, 2/205 it is mentioned that the date of 'writing' was 751 AH. it could be the date mentioned by a later copyist; or could be the author's own sign-off date. Allah knows best.
